I think the couplet structure is a modern, western device which probably didn't exist in Eighth Century China.
I found the version I posted in a book by Alan Watts of the same name as the line you like. "Cloud-hidden, whereabouts unknown" is a collection of writings he did while living on Mt. Tam in Northern California.
