I could never understand why people would even consider snorkeling at Tulum as we always go to the Tulum Cabanas to enjoy the beach (just tip the parking lot attendant). That part of the beach is almost to the Biosphere and every time we have gone we have had amazing boogieboarding waves. As a matter of fact, when the boys want to boogieboard that is where we go. We were SHOCKED last Sunday to find that Tulum is not always like that. We had calm seas and it would have been possible, had we considered it possible, to snorkel Tulum. We were really wishing for snorkels instead of boogieboards, but the waves were small enough that the girls were able to learn to boogieboard so not all was lost.
