Default A San Fran day on bikes

Not really Mexico -- But wth ? I know T&C can relate to the sites, smells and eyeful wonders.

We always start off our day in San Fran at the B and M Chinese resturant for lunch on 2and st. south of Market by 200 yards. (right next to Ming's coffee shop) We usually take bart in -- but with a family of 4 it is now up to $42 R/T !!

This time we took our BIG Dodge 2500 quad cab long bed diesel 4x4 that get's 20.4 mpg with the 6-spd manual tranny. Bridge toll is now $4.00 and we missed the car-pool free by 1 hour thanks to the wife making a 2 hour stop at IKEA for new plateware, area rugs and other nick nacks ... I however did get a new can opener as ours of 16 years is starting to slip on small cans of Tuna.

Anyhow- I aint got a lot of time and gona bore you with the details.... I gotta go to bed to take the boys out fishing in 6 hours on the Delta !!

We parked in the Yellow for free and did not have to fight for a spot with our commercial plates -- ordered 3 plated of Beef Wonton on Noodle Dry (with gravey) and I had the fried fish with rice and bok choy... Hot tea is free and Jack loves to add sugar to his. -- Came to a whopping $$22.25.

after eating we drove to the St. Francis YC for free parking .... and broke out the bikes.

We biked up to the GG -- Up and over it .... Freaky at the peak looking down and then knowing ALOT of people dove off from the spot we were standing. -- Fog was in and we could not see anything else cept the traffic right behind us. We then came down to Fort Point as it was open -- I was last there when I was in the 6th grade for a fieldtrip before Prop 13 took place and ended all that for students in public school.

The boys had a total blast of a time and again I mentioned -- THATS ALOT OF BRICK !!

That is all the pic's we were able to take as the stinkin' battery was dead in the camera !

Anyhow -- We biked back up the hill to the 101 and went perdy much down hill into Golden Gate park .. We fiddled in there and then headed towards Lombard. Apparently ya are discouraged from biking down Lombard -- but we did it anyhow !

From there we went back to fishermans wharf and peir 39 having to walk our bikes at times through the crows as I was menu shopping -- and found just what I was looking for later.

We then biked to PacBell Park and watched the 6th inning of the Giants vs. the Cubs from the gree gates where you are no more than 40' away from the right fielder ! We missed Linsicum beeing taken out -- but watched the rest of it and the Giants were up 6-2.

After that we went up 3ard St to Market -- Then down Market to California as it is the gentlest slope to get to China Town. (We still had to walk the bikes at times). Exited China and then onto Columbas into North Beach ... Then eventually back to Fishermans Wharf perdy much all down hill -- We went into a resturant at the far weswt end ... Their Clam Chowder in a Sour Bowl was $7.95 compared to next door where it was $8.95 .... and right in Fishermans where it was $10.95 ..... They all use the same stinkin' bread roll -- I know that at least !! Jack got the Fish and Chips on the childs menu for $5.95 that was beer battered in Anchor Steam -- He got a BIG portion that would of stuffed me !!

Biked up over the other fort back to the truck ..... then came home and fed the dog by 2130.

Jack was asleep on the drive home -- I figure the boys, wife and I got at least 19-23 miles or better on the bikes. And the wife was such a trooper as it was her first day on the rag and was cramping big time !

I myself was a little sadle sore from not having to sit down on that stump of a seat for so long in quite some time.

-- The End.

Cheers,
Dan
