So, this past Saturday was wash day at the Peanut Pet Shelter. Wash days are sort of an open house for anyone to visit with the dogs, hang out with cool people, and wash some dirty dogs. A lot of these poor guys have mange, and require special washes to help their itchy skin heal asap.
A group of 5 children showed up, and it was so nice to see them interacting with the dogs. They handled the puppies so gingerly, and really seemed to care about the dogs there. There was even talk of an adoption. I left before they did, so not sure what came of it.
However, I do know that our very own Marissa did adopt sweet little Bonnie. How's it going, Marissa?
Here's some pics of the day.

Who can tell me the name of this cutie? Is this Mildred? So many dogs ...
My favorite girl, Tasha.

Tasha's been through a lot. When she first came to the shelter she barely had any hair due to a bad case of mange. Andy & Jen recuperated her, and adopted her out to a nice family. Unbeknownst to A&J, the family returned to their home country and handed the dog over to their cleaning lady.

The poor cleaning lady didn't have a clue what to do with Tasha, and after seeing Tasha's condition degrade, she wisely returned her to the shelter. Tasha seems to be all skin and bones, but she's been eating voraciously the past few weeks, and her mange is improving again. She's a complete baby when she's in my arms, but Andy assures me she is quite feisty with the other dogs.
Gettin' some TLC.
Claire with Choque. Choque means crash in Spanish. Choque was hit by a car early in life. She was tended to by her rescuer and then came to the shelter to find a forever home.
