Day 2
Got up and walked out to the balcony to feel what warmth is like.
Showered and went for a stroll to the taco carts for a little breakfast. I had two pibil tacos and was around 45p. Added lots of green sauce but should have tasted it first. Very spicy but delicious. Finished those and bought a bottle of fresh squeezed OJ for 15p and some fresh cut mango for 25p. The OJ was like eating a ripe orange, so sweet and good. Lisa wanted a pastry and I didn’t see anything on Fifth. I remembered passing Starbucks on my way to the carts but really didn’t want to stop there. We told each other that we didn’t want to have anything here that we could have at home. But what Lisa want, Lisa gets. A Starbucks blueberry muffin will set you back 29p. For those of you who were wondering what kind of bottles the street vendors use; a new order of bottles arrived and were being filled as needed. The bottles are clean and sanitary.
We saw this gentleman walking with his pipe and we weren't used to seeing something like this. Don't know where he was working but thought it was unique.
Went walking downtown to find a place for lunch and enjoyed a great view and good food at Los Aluxes.
We walked to Walmart and bought some groceries. Walked around a bit to see what it was like and noticed the almost all the packaging was in Spanish and not bilingual as it is in the US. We walked downstairs to take a taxi back to the condo and then sat on the balcony enjoying the breeze. We were there for about ½ an hour then decided to sit down by the pool.
We dropped our towels on a bed in the shade and went down to the small beach below the condo. We started walking in; it felt so good. I kept going out until I couldn’t touch the bottom and then floated in with the waves. We went back to the pool and relaxed for a while. Got cleaned up and went into town for dinner. Went to La Tarraya and had a few beers, a margarita and great shrimp tacos. Great breeze and people watching.
It was the first time we had been here when we could have dinner and our toes in the sand at the same time. Walked down the beach to just past Zenzi’s then walked back to Fifth to start our way back. I wanted to have a drink at Zenzi’s but there was a wedding reception and it seemed to be in poor form to crash their lovely occasion. Stopped at a bar when we heard music and stayed there for about an hour. Continued our lovely stroll to the food carts and had two tortas. A little more expensive than this morning; these were 50p for both. Took them back to the room and enjoyed more wonderful food. I noticed my head, face and neck were getting a little warm this afternoon but figured it was the heat. It was the heat alright, I wasn’t quite as red as a lobster but it felt like it. We brought plenty of aloe vera for just this reason.
Time for bed.
