Day 9
Went out on the patio and started a new book; “Airframe” by James Michener. We decided to go to El Fogon for lunch and weren’t disappointed.
Great bean soup.
Lovely onion/tomato flavor with a hint of
FIRE
.
Steak with queso and chorizo. A little salty but MMMMM.
Lisa's steak tacos. Very tasty.
Walked over to Mega afterwards to do a little shopping. Lisa bought a few more bags of her little Globitos (The Mayan Baked Snack) crackers she has fallen in love with and I bought a bottle of DJR. It will help me to remember the great time I’m having here. Took a cab back to the condo and took it easy for a while until it was time to leave for Bad Boys. The band was at it again and we needed to show our support. After stopping by the ATM we arrived and the music had started playing.
A bunch of other peeps were there throughout the afternoon and into the evening. This many people together drinking Sol is bound to create plenty of opportunities for a good laugh. Unfortunately we only had one peep picture that turned out. Duck wins the prize! Doesn't he look happy???!!!
One of the locals was walking around and he sat at our table; nobody had any idea who he was. Turns out he was drawing caricatures and the first one was free. He started drawing and before you knew it he was done. His title on mine was “Sex Machine”. It turns out that “free” on the beach was code for 100 pesos. He did the next one for free and it was Deb, Duck’s wife. He did a great job then it was on to Kristi (Dollbaby). Let’s just say the artist had ‘embellished’ the renditions. The picture he drew is my new avatar.
A few more random shots that you don't see at home.
We left and walked up to “Roots and Fire” for another Sol.
We had a couple of beers and then the shots started. I like tequila but it is usually mixed in a drink. I haven’t had a shot in years but that was about to change. The first shot tasted something like tequila and grapefruit juice. The waiter tapped it on the table three times then it was all mine; it was very tasty. The next round was DJR followed by something similar to a bloody mary. I could taste worchestshire sauce and a little tobasco sauce and it too was very good.
It was about then I looked down and noticed DonB’s wife had sat down and wasn’t doing so well. They decided to start their stroll back to their hotel; I hope they brought lots of Excedrin. The entire time we were there the entertainment was fabulous. I never got his name but he could play the guitar and sing very well. Hawkeye bought him a beer to say “thanks”. Kristi and Craig found some room to dance and they started going at it.
What a great time! It was one of those moments you wish all of your friends could be there to share it with you. It was getting late so we started walking back to the condo. We didn't have our beagle at the door to greet us but we did have a swan.
A quick shower and it was lights out.
Whew! What a night!!!
