Hi All,
Andy asked me to post an update on the Shelter. He & Jen have been "up to their eyeballs" in the day-to-day operations of the Shelter and a medical emergency. They also still do not have Internet at the Shelter.
I promise to post photos as soon as possible. We have a bunch of new residents at the Shelter in just the last few days. We have a Mama dog with six puppies. The pups are 4 to 5 weeks old & are very healthy. In fact, they have already been eating solid (well mashed up) puppy food. They have not been named yet. Perhaps when we get photos posted some of you can suggest names!
Last night Andy & Jen received a call about three abandoned puppies that were in dire need. The three pups are only about two weeks old. Sorry to be so gross, but the pups were full of maggots. Andy & Jen spent most of the evening at the vet with these pups. All of the maggots were removed & some rather strong medicine/treatment was given. One little on did not survive. The good news is the other two were OK to be brought back to the Shelter. More good news...the Mama dog who was weaning her pups accepted the little ones as her own. They are feeding very well. Their bleak outlook changed overnight!
Be thinking of some good names for one wonderful Mama...now with eight puppies! As always donations are needed, especially at this time when the house is full & we desperately need to expand. Please spread the word to your family & friends...
