Wow - you'd both be missing out, big time.

The whole grilled fish at Playa Lancheros is a don't miss meal. Hubby & I polished one off ourselves our first time there.

Yum. Now I'm hungry.

Isla Mujeres is a great place to escape from Cancun. If your looking for an easy going day: rent a golf cart, best way to check out the whole Island. When I was there three years ago Garrafon offered AI for the day, drink, snorkel, drink some more, nap in a hammock, drink some more, drink, drink, then jump back in the Cart and head to Hidalgo for dinner, I can't remember the name of any restuarants but it was the best food I ever had in my life. Watch the prices though, one place will want $22 us for a steak and the place next door will have it for $5us with free shots of tequilla. I learned that the hard way and I must say the 5 dollar steak was much better!! Have fun!!!

P.S. the AI cost at Garrafon is a little spendy unless you're a drinker and can drink the worth

Tappy...
Was in Cancun last spring with my 19 yr old....we got bumped out of Playa from the Royal. Never made it to the clubs as they start too late and have hefty cover charges for this old lady! Hit the Mall and head to Isla. Didn't care for the little street market away from the hotel zone and more into town. Daughter hated it....she was hit on and harassesd the entire time and we cut our shopping trip short to head back to the hotel. The bus system is awesome so don't be afraid to try it.

I love Isla. I'd be happy to help you plan a day there - just ask and i'm yours!!

************

.......you'll need to take a ferry to Isla from Cancun. The are two ferry docks - Puerto Juárez (right in the hotel zone) & Gran Puerto Cancun (Gran Puerto is the newer one about 15 minutes north of downtown Cancun). Boats leave every half hour and the crossing takes about 15 minutes.

Once you get off the ferry (for a day trip) you'll want to rent a golf cart. There are many places to rent from. Gomar is one I've used in the past.

Then spend the day driving around the island, stopping where you feel like it, but be sure to hit Punta Sur, Playa Lancheros for lunch (the mayan style whole grilled fish, tixnchix, is amazing), and Garaffon for snorkeling. Then head back into town and hit Playa Norte for the rest of the day.

Lunch at Playa Lancheros:

njoy and happy travels!
Isla de Mujeres is great. We'll be back this december. Playa Lancheros is great, but there are other great lunch places
