Plaza Kukulcan is a huge mall....if you like shopping be sure to check it out...I bought all my souveniers here when we visited Cancun.

And for a little craziness go to Coco Bongo Nightclub....it's like a bit of Vegas with live shows and music...but it opens late...I think it was 10 or 10:30...the show began around 11:00...it is a huge place...but worth checking out.

thanks M, I will have to find somethinglike this to do as Allen will be in business meetings (Golf cough cough) during the day.

They have some tours we can pick from that the company will pay for:
Tulum - been there, done that.
Snorkeling Tour - maybe ????
Swim with the Dolphins - been there, don't want to do that again
And some glass bottom boat tour (if drinks are served I am all over that)

I am not very good at keeping up with journal entries...but I do love to take pics...having the time off during the holidays has given me the opportunity to update it.

I agree...head over to Isla, rent a golf cart or scooter (fun), and ride along. Check out all the beaches, the great rocky views, stop at some bars along the way. My fave was on the east side of the island.

There might be some other wifes who are along for the trip and wanna head out with you, could be an adventure!

When we stayed at the Cancun Palace back in 2001, they had tours available for free. If that is still the deal, then you just have to hop on the shuttle right there at the Palace and spend the day at I.M. and all you need is included. We enjoyed that trip and the one to X-Phu Ha sp? Palace/ Tulum ruins. That is how we found the better part of the Roo. Hope they still offer those free tours. We also did the bar crawl, but we were younger and crazier back then hahaha!!!!!

Hey Tappy - just posted this on the PI board, so here ya go.

I love Isla. I'd be happy to help you plan a day there - just ask and i'm yours!!

************

.......you'll need to take a ferry to Isla from Cancun. The are two ferry docks - Puerto Juárez (right in the hotel zone) & Gran Puerto Cancun (Gran Puerto is the newer one about 15 minutes north of downtown Cancun). Boats leave every half hour and the crossing takes about 15 minutes.

Once you get off the ferry (for a day trip) you'll want to rent a golf cart. There are many places to rent from. Gomar is one I've used in the past.

Then spend the day driving around the island, stopping where you feel like it, but be sure to hit Punta Sur, Playa Lancheros for lunch (the mayan style whole grilled fish, tixnchix, is amazing), and Garaffon for snorkeling. Then head back into town and hit Playa Norte for the rest of the day.

Lunch at Playa Lancheros:

The nice thing about staying for at least one night is that you can stick around for sunset at Sergio's, which is really a wonderful treat. Then you head over to Hildago, which is a smaller version of Fifth, for a stroll and you choice of places for dinner. If you do stay the night and want to have a really nice dinner, take a cab out to Casa O's.

Enjoy and happy travels!

Okay this is really touristy but we had a great time on the Lobster Dinner Cruise.....The one where you go on the Pirate ship & they come together in the bay & fight! We also took a sailboat out & did some snorkelling.....as well as a Jet ski tour through the Lagoon! Fun times!

PS love the shopping!

We've been to Cancun twice...stayed at the Hilton both times. There is a possibility that we'll be in Cancun again this year...depending on when my FIL is buying & flying.

Anyway, you've got some good suggestions. Isla Mujeres is beautiful and not far. Plaza Kukul...oh, I can't spell it...is nice too. We had dinner both times at Lorenzillo's...it's on the lagoon. I can't think of anything else to add. Have fun on the buses, though.
