Default Thanksgiving Events & Menus in Playa del Carmen

It's that time of year again. I'm starting to get notified of U.S. Thanksgiving events and special menus from Playa del Carmen restaurants. I'll be updating this thread with the info as I get it.

We’ll be having Thanksgiving at a very small place here in Playa, Casa Corazon. It only has room for a few, but the menu should suffice:

Roast Turkey with Herb Glaze
and Gravy

Bread Stuffing with Pecans, Onion,
Apples, Herb Sausage
and Argentinean Chorizo

Mashed Potatoes
with diced Chipoltle Chiles

Sweet Potatoes blended
with Coconut Milk and Coconut Flakes

Asparagus and Red Pepper pieces
in Red Pepper Butter Puree
topped with Gorgonzola

Whole Cranberries
cooked in Maple Syrup
with Ginger and Pecan Pieces

Warm Popovers

Pumpkin Pie
with Chocolate Graham Cracker crust
and Semi-Sweet Chocolate Drizzle

Homemade Key Lime Pie

Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

Moet and Chandon Champagne
Martinelli’s Sparkling Apple Juice

Chiapas-grown Coffee

Accompanied by a playing of "Alice's Restaurant" by Arlo Guthrie
and
a special showing of "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving"

Hey Libby. Good question!

Virgina is part of the south and therefore is known for it's good "su-thun" (southern) eats. The Ajua menu is comprised of dishes that you see on most every table during Thanksgiving but the recipes are all generations old. Benda, she & her husband Jorge are the owners, is from West Point Virginia and her family lived in the area for multiple generations. Her family was one of those names that was just always there. Her families recipies are what is used to make Thanksgiving dinner at Ajua.

The Surry County Peanut soup is famous in the area we lived. Most people are familiar with Surry County b/c of the football player Michael Vick and his dog fighting but, the area is home to large peanut plantations. They make anything and everything that you can think of to eat using peanuts. The soup can be served cold or warm...it is really good stuff!

Come by for a taste! I loved her meals back when they were still living in Richmond and I was thrilled to find out that they were serving them here in Playa too!

Funny, I sort of thought there was a woman named Virginia behind the recipes. Thanks for the explanation.
