Bad Brad and Friends at the Luna Blue

Brad Ryan begins his regular Tuesday night gig at the Luna Blue Bar tonite. Joining him will be Papayito on sax, and a few other special guests may sit in.

Continuing in the tradition of great musicians chilling out at the Blue, Bad Brad, who is known for his kick ass blues, will be playing quieter, more mellow accoustical sets. This is not to say there won't be some tunes that will make you want to get up and dance (ladies...please...no shoes on the bar! Barefoot only!)

Bar opens at 3, Brad starts around 8. Jorge's waaaayyy too strong 2x1 house margaritas starting at 7. Girls in bikinis drink free all day. Say the magic words "Alan Watts" to Papa T during Brad's set and he will pour you a free shot.

That should cover everything. See you tonite.

Girls in bikinis drink free? Really? I hope you guys still have that going in November when we are there! I'll sit my bikini'd butt down on a swing and pound the way too strong palomas Jorge made me last year! LOL!

I may just have to try to talk Steve into a July or August trip down just to take advantage of the free drinks!

That was a great evening!!!

Brad was there of course in fine form as always. He brought along Danny on guitar and Papayito on sax and they rolled through some amazing sets. Dylan, John Prine, A little Van Morrison here and there, throw in a little Johnny Cash and Jack Johnson...and when was the last time you heard James Brown's Sex Machine done acoustically with two part harmony?!

Skinny showed up to do a song or two and offer back up vocals. Sharky lead the crowd in some hand-clapping gospel/rap weirdness that was 100% Sharkey and somehow seemed right for the evening. Big Rob was experimenting with Jorge on some new version of Luna Blue Sangrita (careful...they used a whole bottle of Hot Sauce!!!).

People danced, took over the mic for spontaneous karaoke, and the ladies complied with Brad's request for "lipstick tastes". Cheri chatted with the customers including some sweet honeymooners who mentioned they had been invited to a lesbian wedding in Key West during Fantasy Fest...without knowing what they were quite getting into. It took a while for them to understand "Leather Night".: Jez and I just sat in the corner and talked women and work.

Sometimes Playa is just a lot of fun.

Tomorrow night is Tuesday. That means Brad and some friends to make the music. 2x1 margaritas. Girls in bikinis drink free (standing house rule). Jorge pours the drinks. Papa T has the tequila shot bottle. The magic word for the night...Tiberius. Stop by. Could be fun.

Thanks Tim. Brad is making some nice music tonite...slow Blues stuff...and in between sets he and I are talking Alan Watts, meditation and Zen ( I loaned him some books ). The Luna Blue...the only bar in Playa serving drinks and dharma.
