You just need to set it in your profile settings....in case anyone is wondering the same thing, here's some simple instructions:
  • Click UserCP from the top nav bar (menu bar)
  • choose Edit Options from the left menu
  • Go to the second section, "Messaging & Notification"
  • go to the very bottom of this section and tick "show new private message notification popup"

It's just not set by default.

Although I have mine enabled, I kind of find it annoying. Probably because I get emails when I get a PM.

I'll ask you forum experts for advice... should this be enabled by default?

I think like you said, it's just a matter of personal preference or what you are used to. I like the popups because otherwise I forget to check or don't notice the number showing that I have PM's waiting. But that's just me, I'm a bit of a forum Adretti, whereas others may look around a bit more as they are surfing and notice that.

So I dunno!

Thanks Ginger. Just changed mine to pop up notification.

I like it because otherwise I would not notice I have a PM.

Duly noted. We'll keep Ginger in mind for when the lazy admins figure out what being a moderator really means here In The Roo. I'm sure Sharon would love to know as well.
