We've Got Issues with the Just For Fun forum

Now that I've got your attention...

For those of you who have been here for a while, you know that our Just For Fun category is our little playground for general chit-chat, jokes, party planning, birthday greetings, etc. However, sometimes there are threads of a more serious nature that don't really qualify as "Fun" ... sad stories ("Stingyray Death"), health issues, etc. What should we do... ?

1. Rename "Just For Fun" to something less "Fun" sounding
2. Add a new forum for these more serious discussions
3. A combination of #1 and #2


We've batted around some ideas, but we haven't really found a solution that we like. So, we're opening up this matter for discussion. Anyone have an opinion on the matter?

Maybe "Just for Fun" could be where we go for Streck-Deck type conversations ...

And have a "general" section for the birthdays, news items, etc.

I personally think the "Streck Deck" deserves it's own thread. I mean, do you guys have any idea how many differerent forums i have seen this on?

Well ya could also have a "Screw em where they stink" thread. Ya know, when your mad, and just wanna vent?

Ya know, it just replaces the vent thread, but with a much better name

For what it's worth, I think that the "Just for Fun" forum should remain as it is, because the name is very appropriate for the wide range of things that go on in there.

I do think we could use a separate "General Topics" forum though, where people could post those more serious topics that aren't controversial enough to end up in the "We've Got Issues" forum.

Another forum I belong to has a "Fun & Games" and "Just for Chit Chat" which is everything news, diets, etc that doesn't fit the other.

I think all the "Issues" stuff should stay segregated where they are. It's nice that you've taken them away from the mainstream. Travel and Fun should be primary. I also like the way you guys made it viewable only to registered members.

As far as the "Just for fun" section.... I don't know, It's fine on it's own, OR...change it too something like "The Roo Lounge" with the sub-description of being the lighthearted place to have fun and interact with fellow Roo-Mates.

I like your suggested name, so I've changed the forum to "The Roo Lounge". We've decided to keep the description the same for the moment.

I've decided to hold off on a new forum for the time being. From memory, I think we've only had 4-5 conversations that would fit into a new forum like that.

I agree about the limited access to the "issues". What we're working through right now is going noplace helpful to newbies.

LOVE The Roo Lounge. It sounds like we should issue a soundtrack album to go along with the launch!
