Post Need Advise for Trip to Texas

Hi all, don't know if I'm in the right area for this. But here goes anyway. I have to do my usual run outa town and come back. This time instead of Miami I decided that I might try Texas. Now is there anybody out there with some suggestions as to a good place to go for a couple of days. Nothing extravagant is needed just comfortable and affordable for 3 days 2 nights, need to be back by Saturday. Also which airport typed in Texas and a mass of air ports came up . Any kind of help would be great as I will be leaving Wednesday 11th.

Thanks Kindly.

How about you fly into Dallas-Ft Worth (DFW) and stay near the Historic Stockyards in Ft. Worth? There's a Hyatt Place there that's not too bad a deal for a family.

Instead of Texas, why not Cuba? I've got a serious itch to see Cuba (their aduana knows what to do with US citizens).

Yeah That was another option, but I'm thinking I need to see a bit of the states for a change. I have only seen LAX twice on my travels back and forth from Australia. Miami was good but the weather was not good to me, was final bit of hurricane weather that hit the next day after my arrival there.

Austin is a nice town to visit and Viva Aero Bus - https://www.vivaaerobus.com - has some good fares, but maybe not so much with short notice.

Enjoy your time in the USA.

You didn't say what you were interested in doing or seeing. If you are looking for Cowboys and ranches, then Dallas is not the place. Dallas is a big city and very metropolitan. The stockyards in FT Worth is cool but it's only a few blocks in a good size city..so don't expect the wild west.

San Antonio is really nice. There is the Alamo and many missions around. The Riverwalk is pretty cool. You are also closer to the Rivers and the hill country, where you will find a ranch or 2....or a bunch.

Houston is like Dallas.. Huge and modern.

I would head for the Hill country in Texas if you want to see the real Texas. Austin or San Antonio.

Now if you want something like what you see in the movies...go to the Big Bend National park, Midland/ Odessa, Marfa, San Angelo, etc. But your gonna need at least a week and lots of gas money.

Flying into Austin or San Antonio is a breeze. Both places have lots to see and are very beautiful. We live right in the middle so let me know if you need more info.

Thumbs up Thanks to all

Hey guys thanks to all for your input for me. I hunted around for flights to places and you know what, its not really a holiday thing that i'm going on but it is a trip to somewhere I haven't been before.

I really would like to see the Stock Yards as it may give me a reminder of back home in Aussie land, having had a weekend away in a place similar in Australia. So Fort Worth is the goer, I leave on the 11th In the early arvo & come back on the 13th in the evening,
Flights and Hotel included.

So once again thanks to all and if I've made a mistake then it is my own fault no one elses. But I hope I haven't, maybe I will be able to get to the other suggestions some other time in the future.

So now all I have to do is get some weather info. So will be surfing away keeping an eye on the weather until I go.
