I just found this forum and was excited to be able to join. I'm getting ready to make my move to Playa at the end of the summer from Dallas and would like to try to get to know a few more people that loves Playa like me.

Welcome Kami. Thanks for joining us here on In The Roo. As Tony&Cheri said, we have plenty of locals who have lived here for a few weeks to a few years. Please feel free to ask us anything that might make your move easier.

Our moderator, Sharon, moved here with her husband and son last year and has kept up a blog on useful information for people moving here. If you haven't seen it already, check it out - Move to Playa.

What brings you to Playa, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks. We've been planning this move for almost a year now and FINALLY are almost to a point where we can now move. We are getting ready to apply for our menejae de casa in two weeks with the anticipation of making the drive August 16th. We are so ready to be there!

Ah, you'll be joining the growing number of us locals who have driven down here from the States and Canada. My advice... take your time and enjoy the experience. You can read about our experience doing the exact same thing 2 1/2 years ago on our blog, Our Mexican Adventure. Unfortunately, work has prevented us from having many recent adventures and our blog has not been updated recently. We hope to change that soon... as we say here in Mexico, mañana!

Thanks for sending the blog. I'm trying to start blogging about my experiences in setting up a corporation, buying a condo and all of the things in between because people that are looking to move to the RM area cannot find too much information.

I cannot wait for our road trip!

Absolutely! We have to stop in San Antoinio for my brother's wedding first but I could make room for you in the car!

Actually, that's not a bad idea...finding someone that wants to drive to Playa with us just so we have more people that can drive and less time we have to pull over for the night.

By the way, I've noticed that all of the blogs that I've seen today have what's called "blog rolls"...How do I get on everyone's list? I'm new to blogging and have not written much on my blog yet but plan becoming more diligent about it.

We left on our road trip down here on August 15, 2005 - three years ago this summer. We did a trip report of that drive on our blog: The Ultimate Road Trip: San Francisco to Playa del Carmen Luna Blue’s PlayaZone. Have fun and good luck! Hope to meet you one of these days soon.
