Default Hello...from the Ozarks in Missouri

Have been learning lots from all of your messages and trip reports. Great information here. So, thanks to all of you!!

Planning a trip to either Playa, Akumal, or Tulum for our 28th anniversary this September (I know the weather is questionable...but we have done this several other times during hurricane season, and it's been great!!). We have only been to Cancun (husband loved...I didn't care for) and Isla Mujeres (which I loved...husband didn't care for).

So...I'm thinking maybe Playa del Carmen would be a happy medium, even though I would rather stay in Akumal or Tulum...any suggestions from all of you.

We are looking for great beach, great little bars to relax in at night, and good food. Husband is more picky than I am. If it gives you anything to compare to, we stayed at the Gran Caribe in Cancun and my husband loved it. He seems to like AI, and I would rather not do AI, and just to keep him happy, we will probably do AI...but will still venture out for dinner.

Thanks again for all of your information...and as I go through the stages of planning, I'm sure I will contact you all many times. And, of course, I will do a trip report when we return.

Welcome Have you checked out Royal Porto Real? It is an All-Inclusive and steps away from all the action in Playa. Haven't heard much bad feed-back (if any) about RPR. Happy planning.

Default We have considered the Royal Porto Real....

And, also the Gran Porta Real - mainly because they are a part of the Real resorts and we loved the Gran Caribe (which is now a different resort than the one we stayed in I hear!!). Will definately keep these in mind!! Thanks!

Hello, and welcome If your hubby loved Cancun, he is gonna love Playa even more! We loved hanging out at Fusion, which is right on the beach in town, just steps away from the bus station!! Have a great time! I look forward to reading your trip report!!

I think you are talking about The Royal Playa del Carmen.

The Royal is supposedly head and shoulders above the Gran Porto Real and it's adults only.

Welcome Readwinger, Mountain Home uh? You really ARE in the Ozarks.
You're in good hands here at "The Roo" and PlayaWithMe2 is full of great information (especially w/Rick around to straighten her out on occasion) but I'd say you'd be hard pressed to go wrong with the "ROYAL Playa del Carmen"
but that's coming from just another hillbilly (Jeff City)

Default Popeye...

We are actually in Mountain Grove...not Mountain Home...but they are both in the Ozarks...not really all that far from you in Jeff City. Thanks for all of the valuable information...will get back to you all with questions, I'm sure.

Welcome!! Are the Ozark Mountain Daredevils still around. I think that's the name. I had a K-Tel album once with a song of theirs on it.

The Ozark Mnt Daredevils use to play at my Frat parties in Springfield, MO before they became big. My guess, they still play State Fairs and small venues. Great Band !!
Remember the song "Jackie Blue" ?
