Sorry for not responding. I forget about this section when I check in each day to see what's been posted. Playalove got it right. Invermere.
It's 1 1/2 hours north of Cranbrook and 1 1/4 hours south of Golden. We're the business community for everything in between those two towns including the resort areas of Radium Hot Springs, Fairmont Hot Springs and Panorama Mountain Village. The latter is a ski resort owned by the same people that own Whistler/Blackcomb.

ps At this time in exactly two weeks we should be hearing the "last call to board flight TS 334" and on our way to our favourite resort.

Default Inveremere is a cool area!

You live in a great area! Isn't Invermere the town that has an art fair or show (or maybe it's all summer) but you walk this path and there all these neat displays... I barely remember it, it was a few years ago.. and I can't even remember if Invermere was the town, but it was close by there anyway.

As kids we spent A LOT of time up at Fairmont Hot Springs, we'd go up for the weekend or sometimes just for a really really long day! My parents would also go to a big square dance party every year, back when that was fashionable in the '70s.

Yes Trini, there is an art walk like you describe. Never been on it and we might make either of the hot springs once every two or three years. That's awful isn't it? We all take too much for granted and don't visit the great surroundings we have around us.

it is... I'm only a few hours from you(Banff NP and Kootenay NP).. and I'm only an hour from Glacier Park.. and I havent' been to any of them in a few years.. Every year we keep saying that we are going to go up to your neck of the woods.. In the spring we would at least get as far as Marysville.. Now we are lucky if we get one trip to Cranbook a year for a hockey game. I guess life just gets in the way. The trip I'd really like to make is to Ainsworth! that's one place I've never been to that I'd like to spend a weekend.

We went to Eureka once when we were camping near the border and needed beer.
There is another great hot springs near here that is not commercialized and open to the public, no $. It's on the way up to Whiteswan Lake and there are several natural pools on the side of the Lussier River going from VERY HOT to medium to cool to freezing.
