City Club

City Club right now has a SMOKIN deal on 2kilos of parmesan cheese (family of six; we go through it ). Normally it is $195MN and since the expiration date is 8 May, they have reduced them to $46MN. They also have 1k bags of crutons (my kids LOVE them and eat salad more readily with them) for $10MN.

Wow, those are some good prices! No way we can go through that much parmesan, but at those prices, I sure would try.

Do you remember how much your City Club membership was? I already have a Sam's Club card, and wondering if it's worth to go with City Club as well.

I think I paid 260 pesos for two cards. Will check with the Mrs., to make sure that is right.

I prefer City Club over Sams for a lot of things. They have some good prepared deli type foods, too.

We got our membership back in November of last year and it was $200. I think they are now $250 but PDS says $260 so it could be I haven't paid attention lately.

They'll let you in to look around if you just speak English to the guard and ignore him; otherwise they don't want you coming in. If you have any trouble or would just rather go in with a card, feel free to borrow mine.

If you tell them at the desk outside that you just want to look around, they'll let you do so with no problem. You just won't be able to buy anything without a membership card. For the things we buy regularly at Sam's, we found City Club to be much more expensive on almost everything. But it is fun to see new items. We ended up buying a membership there because there was one thing we specifically wanted, but we haven't been back much since.

A couple of times, when we were there, they were offering 2 for 1 on meat. Got some nice steaks, once, and some ribs, on another occassion.

One benefit, they have, is that they have smaller quantity items, so you don't have to buy for an army. I also like their DVD/CD selection. Its a lot more comprehensive than Sam's, which tends to be hit and miss.

I still prefer the cakes at Sam's, though. Rasberry cheesecake is the bomb.
