I put in a forwarding address and anything that I may not anticipate or just forgot about is automatically forwarded to the PO Box. YOu have to fill out a certain form and send in a copy of your drivers license or something that verifies who you really are. It was quiet simple really. The only thing that I actually needed to use my parents address for was my drivers license. I don't really plan on having anything forwarded to me in Mexico; I like this no-paper way of life! But you never know.
Once you receive mail into your mailbox, they email you to notify you to log in. Once you log in, you see the exterior of the envelope of the mail piece so you know who it's from. At that point you have the option to either have them open and scan the contents, shred, recycle or forward to you. It's really a very cool concept! If you opt for them to scan the contents, it generally takes about 4 hours for them to do it although they say to anticipate 24 hours.
Have you thought about setting up residency in Texas? We do not have state income taxes here either. I would think that it would be alot easier to set up residency in Texas since it's much closer than SD just in case you have to travel to get a DL or any other document. You could just take a day and fly into Austin via Viva Areo Bus (super cheap) and take care of everything that you need to quickly.
I absolutely love it!

Thanks for your input Kami! For credit cards, we do get statements online. But they send us a ton of other mailings, mostly convenience checks. Were you able to opt out of those?
I have thought about Texas for residency. But I'm pretty sure they require a street address and I need to look into what other requirements TX has. A lot of states ask for a utility bill to prove your residency. SD is pretty loose. I've heard you can even give them your hotel address. It would be cool to be a Texan though!
