Local discounts?

Does anyone know if Xcaret or Xpu-Ha give discounts for locals? We've never been (and I don't yet know the difference between the two (off to Google)) but with 4 kids, it would be very pricey. Xcaret's site doesn't mention anything (that I could find)...

I think you mean Xcaret and Xel-Ha...

I know Xcaret does. Our friends that live there have been on the locals discount.

I have been told that if you have a local drivers license and/or FM3 you can get a discount at both.

We have presented our FM3s to receive the locals discount! Each one of us had to have an FM3.

It is about that time of year when everyone starts offering the Quintanarooense discounts. Usually, Novedades has them advertised. I can ask the students, here, about Xcaret and Xel-Ha.

Time to hole up in some all inclusive for a long weekend.

Michele, Did you get your locals discount at the Xcaret ticket office, or did you have to go through a travel agency?

The only way I know to get the locals discount is to buy the tickets through a travel agency on 5th Avenue between Calle 8 & 10. I always forget the name of it, but I believe it has the word Organicos in it and it's next door to the Subway on the west side of the street.

Crococun Zoo, between Puerto Morelos and Cancun is offering a 30% off discount for Quintana Rooenses with a driver's license or FM-3. Their website says it's only for Cancunenses but we were just there yesterday and were able to get the discount. The sign at the zoo says the discount is good for QR. Our entire group of adults, children, tourists, and locals had a great time there. I'll be posting a trip report with lots of pics today or tomorrow.

Mark, I'd love to hear about some of AI discounts for locals if you learn of anything.

I did just go straight to the ticket office at Xcaret.

Looking forward to your trip report on Crococun. I still haven't brought the kids there yet. Bad mother.

At Xel Ha, sometimes they can be sticklers about giving the locals discount, and I have been told that it only applies to Mexican locals from the state of QR. My daughter's a naturalized Mexican citizen and they wouldn't give her the discount just because she doesn't have a Mexican passport. But, like a lot of things, the rules are applied by who's working on that day and also what mood they're in.

I know someone who works for Xcaret, and she says it's only for QuintanaRooenses. She was telling me how some Mexicans get very upset becuase they do not qualify for the discount. (She's Mexican herself.) She also confirmed that an FM-3 showing an address in QR gets you the discount.

Libby or anyone-I plan on going to Xacaret in Nov with my family. Do you know how much is the discount? I think we plan on going in the afternoon and then the night show. Thanks.

You know, I feel like it was 50% off, but now I'm not sure. If you go to the travel agency I mentioned on 5th between Calle 8 & 10, they will tell you. They were very nice when I talked to them.

We do Xcaret once a year for their Day of the Dead festivities. I think they make a fun day of it for the kids.

We went to the Merida Zoo a few years ago. Both the little one's were sick so it was a quick trip through. I will look forward to your pics!
