But isn't "leaving" preferable to "assigning"?

Go for it, Baba!
They could use a male role model.

Anyone looking for more information on what it's all about, let me know. I know a hot girl who had that job for a couple of years.

You might only have to work half a day

I know more than 40 children (mostly boys) who would like the hot girl to come back, any chance of that?????

Babaloo If you were to be the teacher, I really would love to take 4th grade again, I can imagine how much fun that would be.

I just called the director to ask her,

It is not a full time job, you work normally from 7;30 to 2:30 and of course it depends how much homework you take home, preparing and extra activities.

No need to be fluent in Spanish

Must have a degree, preferably in Education, if you dont have a degree but excellent credentials and good recomendations as a teacher you would be able to work but your pay would not be as much.

Normal take home salary after all deductions is 9 500 pesos, insurance, 5% meal tickets for sams and other supermarkets and infonavit (everything that the law offers)

If you don´t have an FM3 they will help you get one.

important is that they really like motivated native English speakers.

This is what I was told.

Not sure I quite get what this means...a little dizzy today as I am trying to kick caffeine. What is 9 500pesos? What are those other "benefits"?

That is pretty good pay, for the hours.

Papalote has a good reputation in the Playa education world.

As with all places, if you are a foreigner, you need to get an FM3. Any reputable employer is going to help you get it. Those that tell you that you don't need one or can wait, should be avoided like the plague.

Off topic, but... we had a high priced lawyer in Plaza Antigua tell us that it would be near impossible for Libby and I to get FM3s for us to work at our business. He suggested that since we do website development from our residence, that we just not bother getting them. Needless to say, we didn't hire him.

that means that 9 500 pesos is your net pay, you take home that

by law you are entitled to health insurance and housing benefits and 5% of your salary in food coupons.

that is what I understand, but maby they will correct me if I am wrong.

For example. my teachers make 80 - 95 pesos an hour, and typically work 6 - 7.5 hours a day, and Saturdays. We pay pretty well, and a teacher working for us can live comfortably in the middle class, depending on lifestyle.

If you look at hotel workers, they generally earn anywhere from 3000 to 10 a month, depending on their job. Some of them live in dorms, on the hotel grounds and get their meals, as well.

Do you have to have teaching licensure in the states to be eligible for a position like this? In place of an education degree, would they consider an MA in English? Thanks!

Many schools (elementary, high and private language institutes) are looking for people who show a capacity to teach. Where you run into problems, these days, is in Immigration. Where once you could get into the field with just the ability to speak English, well, you now need some sort of certification. TESOL, TEFL or CELTA are the most common, but a degree in English would work.

I came in under the old rules, never having taught a day in my life. After almost 9 years in the field, I just did a book review for Cambridge University Press. (LOOK AT ME! ). Life is strange.

Oh my, how I would love to chuck my job and move to playa. Seriously.

I have no certifications, and my teaching experience is all higher ed (composition and creative writing). I have some ESL experience when I was a tutor in a writing center...

Also, I do not currently live in playa. Is this a position starting soon?

Thanks in advance for the info/advice, locals...

I imagine they probably need someone, right away. Your best bet is to look for jobs at the high season (for education), which
