Default Storage Needed

Anyone that can help...I'd be forever indebted to you.

Dave and I are planning on heading to the border next Wed or Thursday with our household stuff. We were thinking about just taking it to Monterrey for storage for the next 4 to 6 weeks while Dave finishes up a project here in Dallas then head down to pick it up and drive the rest of the way to Playa. Problem is we have had a very hard time trying to find a place to store it in Monterrey. So...it looks like we are going to have to drive it all the way to Playa next week. I need to now find a place to store a 6x10 cargo trailer and and a Chevy Tahoe or Jeep Liberty (not sure which one we are bringing yet). Does anyone know of ANYTHING in Playa, Cancun, PA or anywhere in between that would allow cargo trailer storage? I am desperate at this point. I'd be willing to pay someone locally if I could even park it in someone's drive way...A few hundred bucks or so?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Oh my gosh...THANK YOU.

I just sent the PA Marina an email to see if they have anything in their dry storage for rent.
I will actually call this # above today.

I wished I could but as per the requirements of the meneja de casa, I have only until mid-Sept to get my stuff across the border into Mexico. I'm just not having too much luck with this...All of my issues would be solved if our condo was ready.

I wonder if the consulate office in Dallas or near the border can help you find a storage facility near the border so you don't have to drive to PDC and back. The # in Nuevo Laredo - US Citizens Unit Phone# is (867) 714-3954. If you need to go all the way to PDC and a storage facility doesn't work out, we can ask our neighborhood mgmt about storing it in front of our house. We won't be there to watch it, but it is a gated neighborhood. I know someone who lives 4 houses down who might keep an eye on it. She works and she will be gone in October, but I don't think she would mind until then. Do you know when you'll be in PDC permanently?

You need to think about storing your stuff in a climate controlled environment (at the very least with a de-humidifier).
With the heat and humidity here, it won't take long for things to mildew.

You are so sweet! Thank you for the offer. I've sent out a few emails yesterday and will call a few places today (meant to do that yesterday) to see if I can find something. I will let you know how it goes. My heart is now set on making the full drive next week...I did not want Dave to have to take the UNPAID time off of work (he's out of vacation and these darn corporations are pretty strict about time off ) but I need to see the beach...I need to see the people and I need the mental break from here

With everything going on here, I did not think about humidity. Worse case I can find a climate control storage, unpack the trailer (should not be too hard) to store the contents, find a place to store the empty trailer and call it good.

Oh I can't wait!!!! I want to be there NOW.

By the way...thanks for the reminder about mildew!

I can't believe I didn't think of this before! Solomon, from this forum, owns Playa Resale, a resale shop, and I just realized they offer storage also. Their website mentions storage lockers so I'm not sure how much space they have, but you might want to give it a shot.

Hi Kami,

We do have storage lockers here at PlayaResale but at this time all of our spaces are only 1/2 cubic meter sized. We focus on storing small stuff like dive equipment or a suitcase. I don't know if it would really work for what you need.

I heard about some "mini-bodegas" for rent out on the highway, maybe those would work for you. Maybe somebody on here has seen the signs out there. Also, I know there is a nice mini-storage facility in Cancun right past the highway. They offer modified shipping containers as storage units, I don't know if you'd be able to leave your trailer in there or not. You might have to unload it.

You mentioned that you were thinking about dry-storage in PA, be careful with this, I was storing a friend's boat out there a couple of years ago and often ran into an issue with boat and trailer parts coming up missing. Stuff that I know was there when I parked the boat(tires, propeller, etc..)

Good luck on your trip. PM me if you have any more questions.

Thanks Solomon. I've called a few places today but it looks like I'm going to have to make the drive and figure it out when I get there.

We should know by the end of the week where we are passing through. Many people said Laredo and some said go to the smaller entry points. Does your friend live in near Laredo on the Mexico side?
