Default Playa Intl Clinic

Tomorrow I'm going to check the clinic out. I had a systemic (head in the sand about it possibly being analyphalatic (sp?)) reaction to the yellow flies that bite you here on Thursday and I am still not over it. I need some plan for treatment since we can't get EpiPens down here and I need to find out what to do so I can get over this reaction. So I'm going to check out the Clinic tomorrow and I'll report back.

Has anyone used them before? Any recommendations?

Not sure what clinic this is but I can recommend the treatment at the Hyperbaric Chamber on 10th Ave.

The Playa International Clinic and the Hyperbaric Chamber are one in the same. John and I have both been there. We had Dr. Eduardo and he was great. Hope you find a remedy for your allergic reaction!

WEll, I have to say I wasn't very impressed. He had an excellent manner and we talked AT LENGTH and discussed and finally he prescribed but after checking the meds on the internet I'm not convinced. I might try to call him back or email him (but no-one emails in Mexico, or responds to email) or maybe I'll just go back to Clinica Santa Fe for a 2nd opinion.

Most of my issues are neuro right now so maybe he just doesn't do well with neuro stuff.

$275, 1st come, 1st served, excellent bedside manner, yadda yadda. Spoke Spanish the whole time - maybe it is different in English...

That's too bad. I have the name and contact info for an English speaking psychologist who may be able to refer you to a proper neurologist. I think there are some things that must be discussed in your mother tongue. Properly describing neurological symptoms/issues is one of them.

Sorry, I missed this Michelle. And thanks Kami, for your kind concern.

I'm finally over the allergic reaction and the doc didn't leave me with any better plan than I already have for future reactions. So, not much help there. He did prescribe a cortocosteroid instead of Benadryl but all my research says Benadryl so I'm sticking with that.

About the dysequlibrium I just don't know what to do. He prescribed a drug for brain aneurysms and I just don't agree with that. I'm not sure if I want to go back and talk to him about his prescription or start over with a new doc or what. I had a wicked migraine yesterday so I just did nothing and today I really don't want to deal with any of it. Sticking my head in the sand seems to be working pretty well so far.

We love Dr. Eduardo too! So far he has stitched up Cheri's leg after a nasty fall, seen Tony through kidney stones, dengue fever (twice), salmonella, a recent nasty concussion (Tony can be a bit accident prone), conjunctivitis, an ear infection (again related to Tony's accident proneness-don't ask for details), and various forms of gripa and minor problems. He has treated many of our guests for various ailments (we refer all of our guests to him if they need a doctor) and even took care of our darling adopted daughter Sarah when she fell and broke her foot on her last day in Playa (she gets her coordination from her Papa T). And he has never hesitated to refer us to another expert if he thought the matter outside of his knowledge.

In the early days we would call our family doctor in the US to check Dr. E's diagnosis and treatments...and our US doctor always agreed with what was being done. Now, when we travel in the US and need a doctor's opinion, we call back "home" to Dr. Ed.

I went to see him for some stomach problems (gastritis) and he had me better, the next day.

I leave doctoring to doctors. I self medicated for too many years, and all it got me was old before my time.

Is that $275 USD or pesos?

I know it seems impossibly inexpensive, but it is pesos.

Ok, I put on my big girl underpants and we discussed the drugs he prescribed. I will continue to do Benadryl and not the corticosteroid he prescribed but will take the brain bleed stuff. I feel a lot more confident with him now and I'm really glad I talked to him about this. After a week he'll reassess and we'll see what is what.
