Default Best Wishes to Kami and Dave on their drive to PDC
I want to wish Kami and Dave a great safe trip/drive to PDC! Please be safe and careful! Brent and I will be thinking about you. Please post when you can so we know you're safe. I know several others have made the drive and it will be fine. I am so excited for you and wish we were leaving with you. When you get back to DFW, we want to hear all about it and meet you for dinner or drinks!

Yea guys, have a safe and fun trip. You'll find plenty of places with internet access along the way, so keep us informed of your progress.

Before you head back, let us locals know when you arrive... I'm sure some of your new neighbors would like to greet you before you head back to DFW. We know a few places with cold beers and margaritas.

Drive safely, but more importantly, HAVE FUN. Sorry that you are in a hurry - I really wish you could take your time and enjoy the ride!!

Hey Susan and Brent...Thanks for the nice thread. I will call you as soon as we get back to Dallas! Wished you were going with us, too!
Do you want me to check on your new house while I'm there?

Wished you could plan your move around Christmas because Dave and I will be alone at Christmas and we could possibly meet half way to drive the remainder of the way with you. Something to think about...

moi? speed? hehe...I think I just learned my lesson on speeding...I got a ticket last week in Dallas for going 76 in a 60 and now I'm $250 poorer! ARGH!

Everyone, thanks for the great wishes and kind words. This morning I woke up with a pit in my stomach because now I am getting really nervous about the drive. Not sure why, I know it will be fine and a great adventure.

I have a journal and will be making tons of notes in it along the way each day of all the quirky and cool stuff that we experience/see. I will post a trip report each night (provided there is internet where we are at) and will also post on my blog each day. I will start it on Friday night as soon as we get into Brownsville, TX and checked into a hotel. I will put as much detail on it as possible and try to attach many pictures.

OK...I think I'm ready to do this. I've got today, tomorrow and a wake up before we leave. There's no turning back now!

We will be there (hopefully on Monday or Tuesday) and are in town until Sun the 14th. I'd love to meet locals (I've not met anyone there) and drink margaritas!


I certainly want to check out the Luna Blue (never seen it) and am hoping that Tony and Cheri are having a Margaritaville Burger night while we are in town. I also want to see how I can help out at the Pet Shelter; maybe for a day. I can do manual labor or whatever is necessary...Babaloo or Dogman...if you see this, please let me know if you need some help; Dave and I can be your little slaves for awhile.

Kami, y'all be safe and have a great trip. Don't worry too much about highway driving in Mexico, I've always found it to be easy. City driving can be a little more challenging, but just take your time and you'll be fine. I know you're going to have a great adventure you'll remember for a lifetime.

So true Meg!! Not to mention if you can sell your belongings, move to a foreign country and start a business and STILL not kill each other ... well, then you can handle anything AND you are very lucky to have each other!

We'll be there by Christmas if our house sells and we can get everything done by then! We're planning to put it on the market at the beginning of October. I really want to be there by my birthday in mid-January. I turn 40 and want to celebrate it on the beach during the day and at a restaurant and bar in PDC that evening! How perfect would that be?

Our realtor has been at the house many times. We're getting some quotes on building onto it. We also know a few people in our neighborhood, but thanks for offering. We'll have you over when we get there and we can't wait to see your place too!
