Default Satellite TV installation

I have been lurking awhile but now that the closing of the condo I bought in Puerto Aventures is drawing near I wonder if anyone knows someone who installs satellite TV? I am thinking of bringing a StarCoice receiver and dish when I come. Has anyone done this?
(Thanks in advance......great friendly forum!)

Hodamayo on this board installs satellite TV services. He's an American living in Puerto Morelos. He doesn't check in on the board too often, so try sending him a private message.

Yeah, we all do that. Even after we move here, we sometimes think "What was I thinking?!" Don't worry, you'll be fine. There are a lot of locals on here with great advice to give, so ask away.

Also, I forgot to mention that many people do bring down a satellite tv receiver from the U.S./Canada to use here. It works just fine. Mike can get you a satellite and do the installation.

So, are you moving to Puerto Aventuras or will it be a vacation home?

I have Starchoice here in Paamul...I installed it myself but had help aiming the dish...Cesar is his name and he has to be the most unreliable fellow I've ever met. But he's good. Just excruciatingly unreliable. I probably had 8 appointments with him where he never showed...even after calling me and saying he was 15 minutes away!!!!! But he's good.

I would try Libby's suggestion first.

Thanks for the great info, one less thing to worry about.....I think! We are planning on using the condo for our vacation home for now, see how it fits before making any more permanent plans. Very impulsive decision we did in March. Crossing our fingers that we were right.

Default Satellite TV

HI, I am the one Libby was referring to. Sorry I don't check the forum as often as I need to, but with friends like Libby and all other they somehow manage to keep me informed. (Thanks Libby) I can set up your Starchoice or Dish Network. The Starchoice you would need to bring with you. try to get the larger dish they offer in case you want to go with HD it offers just a little stronger signal. I think it is a .90 cm dish or just ask for the largest for this region that is elliptical in shape. As for the DN, I have dishes that work here as they must be larger than what is needed in the US. I have them here.

Please PM me with your phone numbers and I will get back to you. I am on my way to PA for a site survey now.

Thanks,

Mike

Hey you guys are fast!!! Hodamayo I will give a shout after I find out what I can or cannot do about satellite......part of my nervousness is not getting answers from the RE agent about any rules associated with the condo. All he said is it has satellite not cable. I have no clue what that means yet. I am trying so hard to get things in order before hand and he is off on holiday! Thank god for the Internet!

Really in Mexico, you can pretty much do whatever you want to do. Cable is not always available so some go with SKY, if that does not work then I will Make Dish Network work for you. Crawl up on the roof and look at how many satellites you see on the roof tops. If it points to the Beach its SKY if it points to the Southwest it DN
