Default 'SANCEN' Eco-Conscious Natural Cleaning Products... And so much more!

Hola Rooers!

I just wanted to let you all know about the new SANCEN "Save Our Cenotes" all-natural cleaning products made in Tulum. This is from their website:

Quote:
Using chemicals and toxic products to “clean” our houses, hotels and offices is an oxymoron! Cleaning should not be contributing to pollution, but should allow earth processes to continue in their natural cycles. All Sancen Natural Cleaning Products are made from natural, biodegradable ingredients that are safe for you, your family, your pets and the environment.

Wastewater in and around Tulum is generally not treated before being released into the underground rivers and cenotes, which all eventually feed into the Caribbean. Water pollution has been cited in many recent news articles about beaches, diving in cenotes and cave systems, as well as new developments in the area. Help us all stop polluting the very resources that makes Tulum such a wonderful place to visit and to live. Don’t be part of the problem….

Although I wholeheartedly support this, in truth, I was secretly skeptical as to whether the products would actually work... So I used them for the first time today to give my house a well-overdue clean and was genuinely AMAZED at how effective they are! I mean, really, the 'Fregado Suave' shifted a stain on my sink that acid had previously failed to budge! ...and it's so harmless you can apparently use it as a toothpaste too - how cool is that?! If it will make my teeth as white and shiny as it made my fridge, I'm smiling! The products smell delicious and even leave your hands soft! They don't cost the earth either - the products are designed specifically to save our cenotes and the prices are much the same as their nasty harmful chemical equivalents.

The lovely Tamara and Gilda are happy to come and do product demonstrations and / or staff training on how to use the products, give discounts if you return your bottles for refills and offer special wholesale prices for businesses.

We are, of course, now using these wonderful new products at Hidden Worlds - SAVE OUR CENOTES!! Tamara and crew, you rock!

"Chan Chay", their new ecological store in Tulum pueblo is a must visit! In addition to the SANCEN range they sell biodegradeable food take-away containers, natural cosmetics, composting bins, handmade recycled paper, handmade local products and jewellery... and so much more! Every Saturday they run a cool ecological workshop (eg. How to make recycled paper, How to make ashtrays out of beer cans, How to make and use compost, etc.) and you can even visit Tamara's eco-friendly house and get the lowdown on how to build responsibly.

I know they're in the process of re-doing their website, but for now, here's the link to the old one: Green Tulum: Home

This is such an exciting development in Tulum's growth. Please check out these products, people - I can't rave about them enough. C'mon Rooers - let's all save our cenotes!

Saludos a todos,

Cath

Thanks so much for posting this Cath!! It makes me so happy to know that these types of products are available here. And it's great to hear that Hidden Worlds is using these environmentally responsible products! Good on ya, girl!

Now, if I can just convince my cleaning lady to give up her beloved bleach and muriatic acid and give these products a try. Wish me luck!

These directions are from their website.

Quote:
Coming into Tulum from Playa del Carmen on Highway 307, turn right after El Mariachi restaurant, continue for 4 blocks, turn left and we are the second building on the left.

On the contrary, thanks to you, ladies, and please help to spread the SANCEN word (what, no new age men in the Roo?!?!? )

Michele, it would be great to meet you - if you are planning a trip to see us, please let me know and I'll make sure I'm around... and, hey, who needs an excuse to visit beautiful Tulum anyway?!

Claudia / Libby, if you're going to be in the 'Lum, let me know - let's have a coffee and cake catch-up!

...Hey, maybe we could all plan to go to one of the Chan Chai workshops? Maybe you Playensas could all travel down together?

Saluditos a todos

Cath

I will be there on Wednesday working, and the workshop organizer told me that the owners of the store are going to be there, (I asked him if we could go shopping at a point of the work day) and then, in October hopefully also to attend the forum of Healers organized by Holly as press
that is from the 11 to the 15 I have tried every year and this time I hope it works!

Please let us know when the next workshop is Cath I am really intrested!

Okay chicas (and, of course, any chicos who are now interested) - next Saturday (4th Oct) is going to be the composting workshop at Chan Chai. I'm planning to go anyway - if any of you fancy joining me, great! I'll keep you up to date with future workshop schedules as I hear of them.

Saludos a todos

Cath

I'd like to go. Maybe I'll even convince my chico to come. We've been composting for about a month now, so this should be interesting. Cath, do you know what time the workshop is at? And will it be conducted in Spanish or English, or both? Gracias.
