Guess it depends on how hi end you want to go. I know Mega had some good TV deals when we were there. Wish I could have figured out how to get it home.

Telebodega or Sam's for the mattresses
Telebodega also has a large assortment of couches but I must say they have to be the ugliest collection of couches I've ever seen.
TV's...again Sam's has good deals.
I've learned with all of the tile floors that nice china and glasses don't stand a chance around here. I like my high end plastic.

We have found that the best mattresses are either at Sam's or Walmart. Whichever is cheaper or has the quality you want may change from day to day.

Telebodega is also good for appliances. They have a huge selection, however you'll find that they don't actually ever have in stock most of what is on display. And their return policy is difficult, at best. If you can buy appliances from Walmart, you'll have a much better chance of return if there's a problem. We have also had less problems with appliances bought at Walmart versus Telebodega (washers, dryers, refrigerators, etc.), but they tend to be a little more expensive.

Vidrio de Soplado across the highway makes beautiful hand blown glasses at good prices. The restaurant supply store on 30th Avenue across from San Francisco also has a large supply of general kitchen items you may need.

Soriana has lots of cute kitchen items. Sign up for their card & earn points. The money you save can really add up.

We bought all of our furniture for the house and hotel at Tapices Rustico del Sol, which is now located on Juarez near 40th Ave or so. They have good quality rustic Mexican furniture for reasonable prices. It's quite easy to have them make special items, as well.

Soriana currently is running (and has been, since December) 20-30% off in dinero electronico for mattresses. We've been pricing Queens forever; City Club has them for $1200 more or less but with Soriana's 20-30% off, that is currently the best bet.

Mega has some really nice dish sets, as does the new Chedraui, but that is sucha personal decision.

Azcue is running a 50% + 10-20% off right now and that brings their prices down to a normal range. they have stores in Las Americas (smaller) and just north of town on MX307 (larger). Detagglio I think is also running sales - Centro Maya and off 30th. Home Depot in Cancun has good cheap unfinished furniture and doors, Boxito has (IMO) the best vidrioblok and lighting prices. Home Depot and Cerramat have good tile prices for stuff on sale now ($60ish/sq meter). Costco in Cancun has the best and best prices on an espresso maker (as determined by Jamie).

We love that store on 30th across from San Francisco!

We have bought a selection of blue rimmed hand blown glasses to bring back home & we love them (even though we were charged for the extra luggage weight at the airline counter ). They do supply restaurants in the area. It's really nice to go in there to browse around. Lots of nice stuff for the kitchen!

It seems to me that they honor the 2-4 PM siesta as they were closed when we attempted to go there during that time.

Well worth the visit and I am looking forward to add to my collection next time I am in Playa!

Save an hour or two for us when you come down here, and we'll take you over to Vidrio Soplado - the glassblowing place across the highway. They have lots of cool stuff you'll like!

There is a place near the northwest corner of Constituyentes and the Federal Highway 307 - maybe a hundred yards up on the left if you're driving north. I think it's called Caribbean Furniture or perhaps something similar. They have Mexican crafted unfinished, stained and painted wood furniture that is a little more unique than much of the economy furniture you find in Playa. They will paint or stain to your preference or manufacture to order. They also have some interesting Mexican antique pieces that are reasonably priced. We found a very interesting and functional unfinished sideboard (buffet) there for about $250.00.

Soriana is a wonderful grocery store on the west side of the highway in the Centro Maya Mall which is across the highway from Sam's Club. City Club is in the same mall. It is worth a trip.
