Default housekeeper/maid

Hi. Does anyone have the name/number of a good maid/housekeeper?

(not sure what they are called here). I need someone once a week or less.

She doesn't have to speak english, just tolerate my bad spanish.

Any suggestions???

- Marissa

or Señora,

I don't know if there's such thing as "cleaning lady/maid" (at least not now - you know what I mean? times have changed) in Spanish. Same apply to German, Polish and/or Greek) But then again, maybe others can provide you with better answer.

The correct term, I believe for a cleaning woman is "limpieza". In a hotel setting she can be referred to as a "camastra" although, apparently, there are some naughty connotations involved with that term.

So this started some conversations here. I thought the word for this would be "limpiadora" (but that kind of sounds like a wet rag). My friend & my husband (from Mexico) say it's "ama de casa", but I thought that was a word for "housewife". Who knows, maybe it all means the same thing.

Anyway...good luck in finding someone!

To my (limited) knowledge, "ama de casa" is "house-wife". Limpiadora is also a word for cleaning lady. I've just never heard it used here. Maybe it's more common in other regions.

Hi. I met a girl today named Anna who cleans homes. My friend Dan said she is amazing. She starts at one end of the home and picks up everything and cleans it. She even wiped down his dog's bone.

He pays her a flat rate of 200 pesos (her choice). She is reliable. And very nice. I am not sure if my small place pays the same rate, but I will let you know. We did not discuss cost.

She will be cleaning my home on Tuesday. And I'll post after she leaves.

If anyone is interested in her number, please let me know. She doesn't speak english, but I can help with my (limited but ever growing) spanish.

Hi. Hate to keep harping on this subject...but Anna - my new limpiadora - has been in my house since 8am cleaning every single thing she can find. Even wiping down books from my bookshelves.

I almost am embarrassed as it seems my own personal housekeeping skills lack tremendously!

So if anyone needs help...she really is great!
