2 weeks ago, I ran the 30th annual Maraton Indepedencia in Leon, Guanajuato. Although I've run marathons before, this was the first one I did "just for fun." To remind myself that time was not my goal, I took a camera with me and took pictures along the way. I wrote a blog entry about it, if you'd like to see more.

Wonderful accomplishment! Never thought I would hear of someone completing a marathon who drank a beer and took photos along the way! Very cool! Best of luck at your upcoming Cancun marathon!

FWIW: I use Deportivo in Ejido and golf course in Puerto Aventuras to run. Other than the two mentioned, not many places where you can be stress free

Great, Alanis Morissette beat me by 9 seconds:

Alanis Morissette runs the Bizz Johnson Marathon

Bet she didn't drink two 6 ounce beers during the race, however! At least I got that going for me.

Seriously though, she raised $3,780 for the National Eating Disorders Association. Way to go, Alanis!

Running a marathon and downing a couple of beers....all the while taking photos.....gotta love it!!!

Don't beat yourzelf up. I bet she didn't drink or take pictures either. I also bet she was able to make training for the marathon her FT job. The rest of us are mere mortals who have to work.

2 1/2 weeks left until the Cancun marathon. I've trained my butt off for it. I've been logging upwards of 50 miles a week for the past few weeks. I'm hoping to set a Personal Record this time around, so needless to say, I won't be bringing a camera. Can't say whether I'll pass up a free beer, however.

Good luck, John! I'm only up to 5.5 miles now and don't think I'll ever do the full 26.2 but I'm dying to read your blog post.
