Of course, I've been thinking of doing 30th Avenue myself. It may seem out of the way when you're in touristlandia, but it's really not far at all. It's only 5 blocks from 5th Avenue.

I just have to get a little better first. Unfortunately, the only walking I've been doing is back and forth from the bathroom. You do not want to see pictures of that.

Hold off on the Chilly Willy's photos for when I get there in June. That'll be my excuse!

I can see it now: "honey, I don't want to go, but I really need to walk over to Chilly Willy's and take some photos for some friends on the Internet."

Zelda stayed there in February and we walked her home most nights. We went up one night to see the rooms, nothing fancy but clean, plenty of room to dump your things. Neat place, sorry I don't have any pics of there.

The ladies at Hotel Alux were nice enough to let me into a few of the rooms to take pictures today. If only Photobucket would let me upload them. Any minute now.....

Hi Beatrice, Thanks for being a fan!

As far as I know you can't subscribe to a particular thread via this forum. I've been thinking of also posting my updates to a blog, which you could certainly subscribe to. I think some people will find that an easier format to follow. I'll try to work on that this weekend.

My pleasure!! You will be very happy there. I would recommend trying to get a balcony room. May be a bit noisier but you get to hang out and watch Playa-life unfold on the street below!!

I'm back! Still a bit sick, but I was itching to get out! So, I met up with Biz this morning to hang the new In The Roo banner up at Bad Boys. Biz hung it, I watched.

Well, except for that bright and shiny Help Wanted sign. Ever wondered what it takes to become a money exchanger in Playa del Carmen?

Computer & internet experience
Completed Application - There is a standard employment application that prospective applicants must purchase from a papeleria (paper store).
Proof of address - Usually this is a utility bill, doesn't have to have your name on it.
High school degree
Must have lived in Playa del Carmen for 1 year.
Basic English
3 letters of recommendation
Small photograph of your entire body.

There was a good number of people at Bourbon Street around 11am.

Don't blink or you might miss this entrance to the courtyard containing Italian restaurants, Casa Mediterranea & Caffetteria Italiano, as well as several shops selling art, jewelry and sandals. 5th Avenue between Calle 6 & 8

I think the saleslady for Sea of Life was a former timeshare saleswoman. Boy was she workin' it!

This property has stood empty for about 2 years ever since TGIF, and previously Hooters, failed there. It's just south of the Burger on 5th Avenue & Calle 8. Wonder what we have to look forward to!

Playa has a shiny new Dairy Queen! Only ice cream is served.

Converse, Diesel, We've got it all.

Storefront for rent right next door to the Beer Bucket and across from La Rana.

Tank-Ha Dive Center has moved to a new location next to La Rana.

Fancy new parking lot at Plaza Pelicanos, the small shopping mall on 10th Avenue between Calle 8 & 10.

New clothing store advertises that clothes are imported from the U.S. and Europe.

And at this point, I was exhausted from the heat and from still being sick. So, I made a beeline for Mega to enjoy the air-conditioning and get some cold water and bland snacks that will hopefully be kind to my stomach.
