Inspired by Tony & Cheri's Morning Beach Report (ahem), and needing motivation to take more frequent walks, John and I have decided to start reporting on our walks around Playa del Carmen.
We'll walk all over town -- the beach, 5th Avenue, Playacar, the Colosio, the Ejido, and we'll report back to you what we've seen. Hopefully, it won't be totally boring! So, today's walk was dubbed early on as the "Empty Storefront Walk". There's so much construction going on in Playa, especially on the north end where we started our walk. Just about all the new condo buildings on and around 5th Avenue have empty storefronts on the first floor. Right now, these areas are not getting a whole lot of foot traffic, so it'll be interesting to see how these fill up. 38th & 5th ![]() 34th & 5th ![]() 32nd & 5th ![]() 28th & 5th ![]() Constituyentes & 5th ![]() They're finally laying down the stones for the road to Mamita's Beach. Should be done "manana". ![]() They're also working on Calle 26 to the beach, right by Pinche Gringo's. ![]() Casey, a snowbird from Alberta, Canada, was chillin' at Pinche Gringo's while his parents enjoyed breakfast. ![]() This is such a strange building. On 1st Avenue at Constituyentes across from The Gym. ![]() To be continued ... |

She recently adopted Sky and Mouse from the Peanut Pet Shelter. They are adorable!!! ![]() Sky ![]() Mouse ![]() And that concludes today's walking tour of Playa del Carmen. I hope you've enjoyed your time with us. Please remember to tip your tour guide.

Calle 12 will either be the most fun you'll ever have in Playa or your worst nightmare. The number of dance clubs and night clubs between 10th Avenue and the beach just keeps growing.
Supposedly, they are building a Dady Rock between Santanera and Di Vino between 5th and 10th. For the record... Coco Bongo and Dady Rock should be considered rumors at this point. We've heard about them from multiple sources, but we've seen nothing official at the moment. |

Libby, I loved your day in Playa! Wow! So much to see and do! I hope you will continue with your day's. At least til i get there in July.
![]() I am kinda afraid now to visit the pet shelter, and wash the pup's cause as i was looking at the pic's, i already know which one i wanna take home but i can't ![]() Look's like the high rise buildings are starting! Good for them, but possibly bad for the people who like it as a small town. Keep it up Libby, it's like a constant trip report til i get there, and i cannot wait to get on that plane!!!
