Beautiful pics, Libby! Thanks again for sharing them with us all. I can't wait to step foot onto that soft white sand in front of Shangri La!!!

Are the Elements condos on the beach? And are they to the north or south of Grand Coco Bay? I'm assuming that's the construction that's going on near Natz Ti Ha that I've been reading about.

PS. I think the orange tree is called Flamboyan or Royal Poinciana. I remember seeing a lot of them in Oaxaca.

Yep - that's what they are. These are looming in my area now, too.

The Elements condos are beachfront, and they are located just south of Grand Coco Bay resort. There is a lot of construction going on near Natz Ti Ha, but The Elements is the biggest project to my knowledge.

And yes, maestranba & HoneyB, you are correct. The tree with the bright orange flowers is the Flamboyan/Flamboyant/Poinciana. It blooms during the summer months here in the Riviera Maya.

Libby,
While you were away enjoying life in the States...the owner of Puumarola re-opened the restaurant space under Pueblo Escondito. It is now a Tex mex place.

I believe it is open for breakfast thru dinner. Just not sure.

We should try it out sometime!

Okay, let's try it during their Happy Hour from 4-8pm. 2 for 1 margaritas! Their restaurant hawker was trying SO SO hard to get me into that restaurant! They need a sign to make it more obvious that there's a restaurant there, but maybe they dont' have their sign permit yet.

When I lived in New Orleans, I always wished for a big button that says "Don't hustle me; I live here." Sound like you could use one of those.

There's a big royal poinciana tree at the end of my street. It really puts o a show.

We'll have to check it out. We'll be at Natz Ti Ha next Friday for two weeks!!

That is, if I can drag my Italian husband away from Pummarola!!!

If you go for lunch, please let us know how it is!

How fun would that be!! Alas, it'll be a few months before you return, no? No worries, Marissa and I will have all the new restaurants and bars scoped out by then.

Totally! We've talked about T-shirts. Maybe something like "Déjeme en paz. No soy turista." (Leave me alone. I'm not a tourist.) But that might send a weird message to anyone who's not a vendor/hawker.

Oh, that's terrific! I hope to run into you! I'll let you know how the Tex-Mex place is, assuming we get there sometime soon.

I think I met you very briefly at Bad Boys back in Feb. We only stayed for one beer, but I think you were sitting on the beach with other locals. I came over and introduced myself.

I hope to see you around town too!

Maybe I'll be trying the Tex-Mex place before you do!

Lots of great hotel, condo and restaurant suggestions.

It's like an endless trip report.........that I truly hope never ends!! Thank you so much for taking the time........and walks.........and pictures!!

SERIOUSLY?! I must have been three sheets to the wind or that was a Libby impersonator, because I SO would have remembered meeting you!! I've been reading your posts since before there even was an In The Roo. We will have to have a do-over introduction this trip! This time, I promise, I'll remember! Nos vemos!
