Default Seeking Hair Salon ASAP

I leave tomorrow AM and am in search of a salon to color (to put dark low lights in my hair). Girls...you know what an emergency this can be.

I have naturally brown hair, I just got my hair highlighted and it is way too blonde and with the MX sun, I will have bleached blonde hair in no time, which is not flattering to my skin tones. I have no time before my trip to get it re-done and would hate to wait until after the trip to get it toned down.

Can anyone recommend a good hair stylist that is good at highlights, color and the such who speaks relatively good english? Are appointments needed? Please provide an address/cross streets. Even a resort salon will do. I will be in Playa Friday - Sunday.

Thanks so much for any help!

I have heard very good reports about the Salon Bleu on the corner of Ave. 10 and calle 20.

I'd wear a hat instead of wasting valuable vacation time in a salon.
But, that's just me.

I have to agree with you...plus, between the sun and the water, it trashes your hair anyway. I always get mine done after I return from a trip, and never before.

in your vacation pictures, you can always blame how your haircolor looks on "the harsh Mexican sun" or the "endless trouble we were having getting the shutter setting right for the bright light." No one will be the wiser.

Default Arturo Hair Salon

I can really recommend Arturo, he is on 10th avenue in front of tukan plaza corner between calle 14bis and 16
He has worked in Playa for more than 7 years with lots of very demanding and happy customers, he is fluent in English and has a lot of experience with coloring hair. I did it once like 4 years ago and it looked muy muy bonito (so everyone said)
I know a lot of people who would not trust their hair to anyone else.
He used to work with Roberto at constituyentes when he was in Mexico.
Hope you enjoy your vacation and your beautiful hair any color everyday!

If you decide to get your hair done, please let the stylist know that you just had it highlighted. That's alot of ammonia and trauma to your hair in such a short time. And as said before, all that sun and salt water is going to wreak havoc to boot. Be sure to take some good conditioner and protien packs with you.

You might ask for "deposit" only haircolor. It has no ammonia.

Default thanks for the info

I have been interested in looking for a good place to get a cut but I just keep putting it off. A trim here and a trim there and my hair has just gotten way to long for me. When we go back to the states in July I am donating to Locks of Love so I will need someone that can do a good job of keeping up whatever style I come back with.
So, thanks for the information. I will look into both places!

Thanks for this info, Claudia. My daughter just had her hair done completely blonde (she is dark) and since we are going to be there a month, I foresee haveing to get her roots done again while we are there. Because her hair is very short, dark roots will be much more noticeable. So it's good to know someone who is good with color, we will definately visit Arturo for this. Thanks!

Arturo is very good. I've been to him several times, but haven't had him highlight my hair yet -- although he keeps trying. I speak to him in Spanish, but from my observations of him with English speakers, I would not say that he is fluent. So, if you have something very important to communicate, you might want to get it translated into Spanish.

Arturo was actually in a very serious accident about a month ago. He just returned to work today. According to his girlfriend, it is too soon, but he was anxious to get going again. He's a trooper!
