Default Where's your favorite hambuger in Playa?

Yes, I know most people don't think about hamburgers in Playa... but, every now and again I kind of get a craving for a nice juicy burger.

My current favorite is Kitxen on 5th Ave btwn Constituyentes and Calle 20. Their burger is served with sauteed potatoes and an incredible salad. For $8, it's a great deal.

Are there any other places out there worth trying?

There use to be a burger place on 5th and about 24th. called Big Burger. Nothing fancy just burgers. 15 pesos. I use to stop there and have a burger for lunch when I got bored at the beach and needed a walk. Now it's an internet cafe.

Yes, believe it or not, after living here a few months, you start getting hungry for some foods you took for granted in the U.S.

John, I'm glad to know about Kitxen. Biz has been really craving a good burger lately and we didn't know where to go.

Fusion.

When my family was in Playa over Thanksgiving we sampled burgers at a few places in Playa (there were 7 of us there, with two kids, for 9 days, so it was a good bet someone was going to want a burger somewhere on a regular basis).

Fusion was the unanimous favorite, resulting in a couple of happy return trips for lunch or dinner on the beach. The burgers are thick (as compared to the others we tried), really well seasoned, and big enough to share for those with human-sized appetites (especially following chips & guac). The rest of their food is quite good, too - fish tacos, arrecharra, even their big dinner salads. And you cannot beat the setting.

Yep. We had some very good burgers there in late Feb 2007. It's on our list for a return visit in a few weeks. Hotel Playa Maya also does a pretty good burger with a twist; pineapple and guacamole, or similar, I think. I've had a few in the past and they work pretty well in spite of being 'non-traditional'.

I don't know about burgers, but when I was there in Sept 2007 I had an Egg McMuffin at the McD's on 307 (we were headed for Tulum) -- it was the BEST Egg McMuffin I have ever had. It was a good way to start my birthday day.

Now that I've gone totally OFF TOPIC...I'll have to remember Fusion and their burgers for next time.

Yeah, I really like the McMuffins here. Of course, they Mexicanize it by adding a touch of refried beans and putting chiles in the egg. It's still really mild, just gives it a bit more flavor.

Not quite in Playa but I've always enjoyed the bacon cheese buger at the Turtle Bay Cafe in Akumal.
Yum Yum!

Sarah always loved La Terraya (not sure about the spelling). Helps being right on the beach, I was never that enthused by it.

Bad boys had a big hamburger, quantity always goes along way in making up for quality, IMHO!

On Calle 2 between 10th and 15th on the south side of the street. Kicka$$ cheeseburger, but served mostly in the morning to locals for breakfast. I don't remember the name of the restaurant, but it is kittycorner across the street from the Casa de Gopala

Those burgers looked so good! I thought about eating one, but worried it would interfere with my alcohol absorption.
