Yep - I've worked out at The Gym before. $15 will buy you a day pass.
I've taken a couple of their spinning classes and they were very good. I've also used the cardio equipment. Things were a bit tight in the gym, but the equipment was in good shape. Good cold a/c. |

The Gym does have good, newer equipment in excellent condition - tons of cardio machines and every weight station I could think of plus free weights. They do sell week passes but I don't know the price.
Muscle Beach has older but okay equipment, but no a/c so I couldn't use it after the first few times. Sorry, I'm not familiar with Area. Hope you enjoy your trip ~ Caroline |

As page said, plenty of cardio and weights. Good a/c and equipment in good condition. I saw a sign for $650MX for some type of pass, but I couldn't figure out if it was for a week or a month. Cheap-assed dude that I am, I was there for five days, only bought a single one day pass, but did a full workout in the morning and then two back to back spinning classes in the evening, JUST to make sure I got my money's worth!

My guess is that it would be for the week. A bit high but worth it if we are going to go more than 3 days during our stay. We could always just do 3 days and run on alternate days......providing I can get my act together and actually start running longer than 12 minutes at a stretch.
I most likely won't use the cardio equipment at the gym.......I've only been on the bike one day in the last 6 weeks and that was because I needed something to do when we switched rounds with the boxing trainer.

I worked out at both Area as The Gym. Both are good gyms.
Area has a bit more space and usely it is pretty quite there, not many people. I changed to the Gym though because it was closer to my house, new place, new machines. Friendly personal that can assist you or give tips on your training schedule. Also very good classes. Good luck! |

Hi! I love the Gym. The spin classes are the best there. Not to mention the drop dead gorgeous spin teacher in the am's
I buy a pass for 5 visits at a time. They give you a laminate card and punch holes in it when you use it. Since I go to playa so often I just use the card on the next visit if I have visits left, they do not expire. I think the last time I bought one it was $60 or $65 bucks for the five visits. Have fun!
