Last night Jamie and I watched the storm blow in off the water - yelling over the noise of the wind - and today during our exercise walk we noticed that the palapa roof of one of the buildings at the military point had blown completely down. They are right up against the water and probably didn't have their palapa built by palaperos.
Amazing seas out there today. Kind of like being on Cozumel's east side or the Pacific Ocean. |

I know it doesn't sound like much to some of you, but we've just had our wettest month on record...at only about 10 inches of precip for the month of May.
Makes some people nervous about this time of year when we get socked in with large amounts of rain. Back in 1972 a freakish weather system dumped a ton of rain over a couple of days, and that after a wet spring snow...the resulting flood that flashed through town killed 235 people. But we've had so many seasons of below average precip that lakes are about half full....so I can understand the need for a good amount of rainfall. But I grow weary of the daily dreariness. |
