Default Best Bloody Mary in Playa?

Best Bloody in Playa? I'm a huge Bloody Mary fan but I have been underwhelmed with the Bloody's in Playa. The bars all seem to use the same watery bloody mix. Is there a good mix I can buy in Playa to make bloody's in my room? Or is there a bar that makes a good Bloody?

People always say that Bad Boys(on beach between 2 and 4 calle) has the best Bloody.

We visited some friends who were staying at the Mayan Palace for a couple of weeks and we had the best blody Mary there I have ever had in Mexico.

When we hit the Playa Walmart I'm gonna see if I can scare up a decent mix. Not sure if that's doable either.

Hi Jana!! I go back and forth about the bloodies at Capt. Dave's. Sometimes they are spot on and other times not. They are better than most and at least Dave has made an effort to do it right!! I went through a kick last year when all I drank was bloodies and I guess more specifically bloody caesars as I prefer Clamato/Kermato. For awhile, PG's was doing an OK job of it but it depended on the bartender and his mood of the day. Most places do not bother with the horseradish which is problematic for my experience. I found that most places use too much lime juice in their bloodies for my taste. The best bloody can be found at my house on Sunday mornings. Here's my list of ingredients. All of it is done to taste.

Vodka
Clamato Juice
Worchestershire Sauce
Horseradish
Lawry's Seasoned Salt (muled in)
Fresh Ground Black Pepper
Celery Salt (muled in)
Fresh Lime Juice
Tabasco Sauce
Dijon Mustard

That's close to my homemade Bloody recipe except I use Spicy V-8 and also add a teaspoon of pickle juice.

I was unaware that there was such a thing as a good bloodymary.

I tried one many years ago and didnt like it at all but maybe as I have aged my tastes have changed and I should give it another try. Is there a good time to drink one? I thought I had a friend who would have one when he was hungover...should have a few days like that next time in Playa I am sure.

I don't care for tomato juice but I love a good Bloody. Go figure.

I don't get it - you are talking about having this drink in Mexico, right?

In Mexico, I don't use dollars, I use Pesos.

I don't drink Miller Lite, I drink Sol

And I don't drink Bloody Marys, I drink Bloody Marias (a/k/a Vampiro).

I had a few great Bloody Marias at Posada Freud, but unfortunately the bartender who made them so perfectly has now moved on, last I heard he going over to the new Corto Maltes but cannot confirm that.

Yeah....I've been known to eat a burger and or a club sandwich at the beach clubs. Pizza too late at night. Not to mention the grilled pollo at Asado Pollo. And I hate Sol....to watery for me. I'm a XX amber/Negro Modela/Victoria/Leon/Bohemia beer drinker

OK OK - so I have a burger at fusion once in a while, too. And french fries. So I'm not a purist.

But if you like Bloody marys (and I see that you do) - you should try a Bloody maria. Good stuff. You sip tequila with a sangrita chaser, right?

Yum. All this talk is getting me thirsty.....

I've had several at Bad Boys and haven't had a bad one yet....but they have always been made by my favorite bartender. It's sure worth a try, Bluespicker.....since you said that was one of your favorite bars anyway.

Michele, thanks for that recipe. I'm going to try making one at home. I know they help a hangover....but do you think they might cure a cold??

I've made Bloody Maria's at home when I've run out of vodka....can't say I care for them. I usually sip my anejo with a beer chaser but I've heard about a good sangrita/bloody mix you can get in Playa so I'm gonna try it soon.

We enjoyed sampling various new tequilas (new to us, anyway) - all served with tasty sangrita chasers - at Casa Tequila. A most enjoyable way to pass the time - and educational, too!
