Question Elections in Playa...no Sol :(

I was reading about this on another site and wanted to hear what the locals think about the subject. My freinds and I are coming down 1/28 - 2/7. Would like to watch Super Bowl but have heard that this could possibly be during the QR election time and that you may not be able to get alchohol during the game. Gonna have to stock up if this is so....any opinions?

it seems to be difficult to get a definitive answer
more than likely the decision on alcohol sales will be decided at game time
...i would stock up...just in case.

I've heard about this issue in the past... always seems there are enough people willing to break the rules to keep people imbibing.

Stocking up the fridge is never a bad thing, however.

We've ran into the "no alcohol sales during election" a few times. Once 6 of us got into Cancun after a long flight delay. Bought a beer on the transfer bus, threw our luggage into the room and went out for a long overdue, much needed drink. Got to the bar "NO ALCOHOL SALES". Lucky for us Tammy had brought down a bottle of Captain Morgans with us. She did keep reminding us that we had made fun of her for bringing booze into Mexico.
