That is truly unfortunate. It is certainly a deserving cause. I suspect the observation about the seasonality of potential attendees is indeed the major contributing factor. There are so many worthwhile causes, and one's pockets are only so deep, that we all have to establish our priorities.

Sorry to hear about the cancellation, and sometimes it just isn't worth the effort to try to get the ball rolling on somethings. Thinking back to the Dean relief project, I sense what you are mentioning here....keep up your own goodwill projects.....you will make a difference......

Just ran across this as I was catching up.

It is a shame that it had to be cancelled, as I was looking forward to having a nice day out with the family and helping out the Bomberos, at the same time.

It is a bigger shame that a part of the Playa cyber world decided to block the promotion of this event. Whether it be because there was no personal benefit to be made from the cruise or just a continuation of past grudges, I think it sucks. It also speaks volumes about the management of that other forum. In either case, it hampered an already difficult task of trying to get this done in low season. Maybe if that forum were really run by locals, they would put aside their pettiness in order to benefit the local fire department.
