Mojito Prices & critique ?

Babe's has our favorite and in my opinion the best in Playa...

There seems to be two camps on the subject of mojitos in Playa. Some favor the limey, more sour mojitos at La Bodeguita, while others love the minty, sweeter mojitos at Babe's. My favorite is the Babe's version.

My vote is for Babe's as well. 35 pesos. I like the mojitos at the original Babe's on Calle 10 more than the ones at Babe's II - they tend to be a little less consistent there.

I've heard good things about the mojitos at La Bodeguita, but I'm not personally a fan. It's been over a year since I last had one there, so I can't tell ya what I didn't like about it.

I also liked the ones at Fusion, Julio makes a great Mojito there, and not so bad to look at

Went to Babe's last night. The mojitos are definitely 44 pesos now. Still as tasty as ever.

I guess I'm more of a traditionalist and much prefer the mojitos at La Bodequita del Medio in the Plaza del Carmen complex at the south end of 5th. Don't recollect the price, but I do remember we considered them good value for money. A couple of times when we've enjoyed them, we were lucky enough to hit the place when it was "Happy Hour", an aptly named institution. We participated enthusiastically, but as I recall, while I was indeed "happy", my legs didn't seem to function particularly well afterward. Must have gotten some of those notorious "bad ice cubes."

I've always been a fan of Babe's mojitos, even with the overdose of mint leaves. My only complaint is how the mint particles stick to your teeth!!

I'd give runnerup status to Carboncitos but I haven't had them often enough there to declare their consistency. I've also had some good ones at BipBip awhile back.

The worst mojito I've ever had in Mexico was at Mezzanine down in Tulum.
