Hi! We're thinking about staying here:
Map of The Meridian | Playa del Carmen, Mexico | In The Roo Is that an area where we'd have to cab it to get to main walking areas of Playa del Carmen? I don't even know what the main areas are. We're told it's close to the Coco Beach and Mamitas, but it looks to be a few blocks away. Is it a safe/nice area? In general, would just like to know if it's too far away from main areas, or getting cabs to take us around is standard and not a problem? Thanks. |

I dont think it is too far away from the centre. You are at the end of the centre, I would say. 5 minute walk and you`ll be right on 5th at the north end.
If you want to walk all the way to the other end of Playa it might take you a while but it is a nice walk. A lot of things to see. And you are located close to a great beach. Personally I find it a nice part of town. Have a great stay!

I took a stroll from our beachfront condo between calle 4 and calle 6 along Avenida 5 to la Cueva del Chango on calle 36 just off 5th. It was a long walk, but lots of places to stop on the way. There was some construction going on when we were last there March 2007, so I'm guessing there's even more to see up north now. If you've never been to PDC it's even better. All sorts of new places to explore. Enjoy!

We just returned from a 10 day stay at natz ti ha
Natz Ti ha - map Easy walk to Mamitas and Kool. You can walk along the beach or down 5th. Also a very nice stroll down further south on 5th in the evenings for dinner/shopping, etc. We only took a cab home once from Fusion after dinner as the kids were falling asleep. (another huge thumbs up for Fusion - lunch on the beach, dinner in the restaurant, live music, cool bar. You name it, great place. Our favorite waiter was Luis). Other than that, we walked everywhere. Excellent location. Enjoy!!

We've stayed at Natz Ti Ha condos and Shangri La Caribe Resort on the north end. It's a bit of a walk, but not bad at all.

Like others have said, walking to the beach and the south end of 5th Avenue from the Meridian is certainly doable. Of course, if you don't enjoy walking or can not walk much due to health reasons, this might not be the best option for you. I did a "Walking About Playa" post a while ago on this area. There is a picture of the Meridian condos. Check it out.

Hi. It's not really all that far to Mamitas to from Meridien via the beach. Maybe 5 minutes? I used to walk it all the time! Love that part of playa!

Both are great properties. Personally I would stay at Nat Zi Ha, but the prices are a bit higher than the Meridian.
I have both condo complexes listed for rent here: Playa del Carmen rentals villa condo vacation rentals and property management property managers, Playa del Carmen, Mexico
