Photos: 5th and 16th Today - Smart Car
A photo of 5th Ave at 16 north today about noon. It wasn't the best morning to be on the beach so there was lots of shopping and strolling on 5th Ave this morning. If this picture was taken during the low season, you would probably be able to see Constituyentes.
I also saw a Smart car for the first time in Playa del Carmen. I find it interesting that there is already one down here. Easy to park - for sure. Picture was taken on 16th between 10th and 15th.

The "Smart" is a car that has been around in Germany for years (also Europe for that matter), I think since around a decade.
The buisnesses behind it are the same that build "Swatch" watches- and for a while Mercedes was also involved. Their aim was to build a small, light car for use in the city that doesn't use much space or gasoline. You see quite a number of them on the streets here- two of my friends have one. They are really good for inner city use and more eco than the usual bigger cars. As far as I heard the Smart is about to be introduced to the market in the States.

Yep, the Smart car is commonplace in the UK now too. In addition to the one Biz saw, they do a 4 seater version and also a roadster. A friend of mine has the roadster - now THAT is a "smart" looking little motor!

Quite a few Smart cars here in Ottawa.
 Oh yeah...that hill. Tough one to climb after a hard day's night.  And the Pizza... dos con camarones y spinachi, por favor.
