Okay, it may seem silly to some people this question. But my little guy is sooo attached to us, we are a little worried about leaving him at him if we do decide to come for a whole month, which is what we are looking at. He is not a very independant dog at all, and he does need constant affection. I do have some good people I could leave him with, but I'd still worry he would get very upset because it is a long time.
He is only 22 pounds, so I think I could bring him on most planes....and that would be a deciding factor, because if I couldn't bring him ON the plane, I wouldn't bring him. I think it would be even more stressful to ship him with baggage. Anyway, what are people's thoughts? Do you think it would be more hassle than it's worth to bring this little guy with us? I have found condos that are pet friendly. And he doesn't shed or anything. I realize he's not allowed on most beaches, right? But he's okay staying in the condo for periods too, as long as we walk him once or twice a day. I dunno....maybe it's more trouble than it's worth. He's just a DOG after all, right? ![]() ![]() EDIT: Oh, here's a pic of the little guy (Moses)

Well, if the weight limits include the carrier, we'd have to put him on a diet fast!!
Michele, we haven't booked a place yet....we are looking for a condo, somewhere in Playa, but I have seen a few that are pet friendly. We do have a friend who will take him, she has a dog also and her dog and Moses are good friends. And she loves Moses. But she does say that he still very apparently misses us (mainly me!) when we are gone. I work from home, so he is with me constantly, I take him in the car even when I'm running errands, etc. Maybe the solution is to start weening him from me a bit...maybe start leaving him home for shorter periods, do a few overnights with my friend, etc. get him used to it before we go. If that is true about the weight limits on the plane, he'd be too big anyway. ![]() Thanks for the compliments, he is definately a cutie pie, and it's not just 'cause he's mine, everybody who meets him thinks so! He is just very lovable.

Ginger, When you're pet travels with you in the cabin, it's not the weight that matters but whether he/she can fit in a carrier under the seat. Continental has always had a very clear policy on traveling with animals. You might want to check out the information on their site here.
Dogs are definitely not allowed on the beach in Playa. I know people who take their dogs to Xpu-Ha beach on the weekends. You can definitely walk your dog around town though. Technically, dogs are not allowed in the outdoor seating areas of restaurants, but you do see it -- though less and less over the years. I think it's sweet of you to consider bringing your pet. The traveling part might be a little uncomfortable for him for a little while, but then he gets to be with his family the whole month. Small price to pay. |

Jan and I are lucky that we have Camp Bow Wow to take our dogs to. It's a great small place and the dogs love it. It's a doggie vacation for them. Even though I love our two mutts I do enjoy getting a vacation from all the doggie stuff we have to do every day. If we need a puppy fix we know where to go in playa.
