Do any of you very helpful locals have copies of the menus to any of the beach restaurants in Playa? We get there at lunch time and the 10 of us are planning to have lunch on the beach. Somehow I am in charge of choosing the place. I want our 1st meal to be a real good one because we have some first timers. I am looking for menus for Playa Maya, Alhambra, El Pirata, Pelicano, Fusion or any other place in that area. Any help would be very appreciated.

I have a few of these around. I need to get back into posting menus on this thread again. Right now, I'm mired way deep into our U.S. taxes. But hopefully by Wednesday, I'll have some time to look for those menus. If not, we're in more trouble than I thought!

Hi Libby! Thanks for posting all of the menus! We've been wanting to try Doña Mary's but weren't sure how limited the menu was. It looks great! Do you know the difference between an "empanada sencilla" and an "empanada preparada"? Just curious!

Yup, the sencilla is just a plain empanada. The preparada has shredded lettuce and crema (similar to sour cream) on top.

Taxes are done, and I'll be posting some more restaurant menus today. Hopefully, I'll find some of the beach club ones.

Two questions:

What exactly is tikinxic? I've seen it on a couple menus.

Also, what is a pepito sandwich?

Tikin xic is a Mayan or Yucatecan preparation of fish. The fish is wrapped in a banana leaf with achiote and orange juice (the sour oranges we have in Latin America) and baked. It's usually made with grouper (mero) or whatever fish is in season.

Pepito, I'm not sure about that. Pepitas are roasted pumpkin seeds, but I don't think that's what you're thinking of. Can you tell me where you saw it?

I'll try to post some more menus in the next few days.

If you look on Bad Boys Menu it is listed with hamburger and club sandwich. It costs 65 pseos. I also saw it on El Pirata's menu.

And thanks for the menus. Keep 'em coming.
