It should have been pic time now but i cant get the photo,s to load to my photobucket account, i will try another cafe and hopefully get these up today pic time again, sorry
But on with the great news (tho a wee bit sad) on the adoption front.
First up the coming and goings..... Sat was another busy day at dog wash a lot of people turned up including Vikki and Josh who had come to see his new love Day-Z the cute little fluffy girl who has stolen so many peoples hearts, then a nice American family arrived and told us they had just moved into a large walled property and would like to adopt a dog or maybe two, they immediatly fell for the new white poodle that had arrived lst week and then they asked if Luna was available we love Luna , she is the sweetest , prettiest little girl we have had here and she has been with us pretty much from the start, i kinda hoped that no-one would ever take her but we knew it was unfair to take away her chance for a new loving home so she left us too, the family has also asked us to hold onto one of the little furry pups until he is old enough to leave his mom.
The building of the shelter has really come on, although the big job of clearing the land still needs to be done, the builder is sinking the posts for the runs and we should start getting the new doors any day soon, which just leaves the many metres of fencing that we need to buy (this may have to wait a little while until we can get the money together for this).
We are already using four of the pens (using temp doors) and have put all the moms and puppies out there, they appear to enjoy it and it means a lot less animals in the house.
Photos soon i promise

Oh my gosh, I love Luna too! What a sweetheart! It makes me a bit sad, but so happy for her!!

Well we now have six brand new additions to the shelter, the young dog that was tied to the gate and i had in quarintine for 10 days gave birth to six little babies yesterday and i was there to see a couple being born, a strange but wonderful experience.
I didnt take a pic yet as i didnt want to scare her with a flash but i will try to get a photo later when she is a bit more relaxed
And on the continuing saga of being taken advantage of in Mexico,it turns out that the guy we paid $8000 peso to for getting our FM3,s did nothing and now we face the joy of having to leave the country to get another visa... so a 3 day trip to Belize is on the cards, big problemo... how to find someone to look after 70 dogs while we are gone, i am looking at another option so maybe things will work out.
Little Day-Z left for the US yesterday and there is a family coming today hopefully to adopt

The posts are in for the runs and the doormaker has already begaun to make the 26 doors for the pens, there has been a delay there as sadly one of his workers has passed away this week and he closed shop for a few days due to the tragedy.
We are still trying to source the fencing at a reasonable price (expensive stuff) but we so far have 20 mom and pups living in there

What types of dogs are Zack, Zoey and Zeb? Are they pit bulls?

Also that tiny black 3 week old puppy...what type is that?

I'm pretty sure they are just pure Mexican street dog. Most mexican dogs are just complete mixes of many other breeds, and have this same look to all of them (and it IS kind of a Pit or Staffordshire look to them.)

Up close and with thier markings they look at lot like boxer pups, but they all have some kind of deformity, the samllest Zack is def the runt, he is less than half the size of the other two, Zoe has a rigid back leg, we are going to get it x-ray'd to see if the joint has fused but even so she gets around quite happily and Zeb has a very strange walking gait with his back legs like he has hip problems but they are the cutest, we were thinking maybe they are from a breeding litter but because of the deformity's they were dumped with us, better than the alternative tho

Sorry all for being awol, just been a little busy lately, just got back from the vida clinic at Peurto Morales, sadly there was not the hoped for turn out but the vets have done an amazing job this trip fixing around 400 cats n dogs.

Marissa thank you so much for your lovely post and sorry i didnt thank you earlier, muchos , muchos gracias also for your fantastic donation, and that gors out to everyone who so kindly donates to help us look after the animals.
We took four abandoned dogs from this years clinic although one we are hoping will soon be off to the US and 2 days ago someone stopped by with two little pups in a box, so i think the unoffical tatal is around the 80 mark, but good news on the adoption front, three of the large puppies already have homes when they are ready to go and a guy came by testerday who has a large ranch near Tulum and he is looking to take at least 2 of the older dogs

Some very sad news, the brand new mom was sadly killed by a snake yesterday
the builders have promised to catch and kill it) which left ius with the huge problem of six newborn babies with no mom, but thanks to Martha the mom of the big pups that is all under control, she is feeding them and they should all be ok

My sammy would love a puppy, but the MIL is still trying to get used to having Sammy in the house.

Thanks for the pictures. The puppies are SO cute. I'm going to have a hard time not taking one home with me.

Default New Breed for the AKC

Just work with me on this.....if enough people adopt a number of these to bring back to the US ,or Canada, or points elsewhere..........and file papers with the AKC and plead a new breed....is it possible that somewhere down the road the "Mexican Street Dog" would be recognized as a breed? Or, if you adopt one, you should just enjoy it, and shower it with love and kibbles?
