Thanks for the update, Andy! I'm so excited to hear all your great ideas! Although it's sad to see the perrera dogs and know what awaits them, it's also uplifting to know that you and Jen are looking out for them! Thanks for all that you do!

Andy and Jen!
Thank you for keeping us posted on the happenings at the Perrera.

I do not think I could go there and see all those sad puppies. You are a strong strong person my friend.

I will send money soon.

I hope others will follow....

Thank you Marissa and give Karma a big hug from me

Just got back from the Pererra where i had been to deliver some bags of food and some meds and tick n flea stuff that they desperately needed, and also to arrange the next spey visit for MJ and Trina two recent arrivals
Mj was found at a local plaza where its was thought she had been in an accident as she was covered in bloody scabs and was limping badly, we found out later that is was in fact a very serious case of mange and the limp was from an old injury that had smashed her elbow but had since healed, she has fully recovered from the mange but will always have a limp (which is painless)
We found Trina just a block from the shelter, she also has an old injury to a back paw which looks like its been ran over, we plan at a later date to get a couple of her useless toes removed as she catches them, she was so starved that she could barely get up to eat or drink but she is now happy and healthy and a real character.

Sorry for the lack of posting (ive been poorly ).

It was a very sad week with the passing of little Choque, we knew she was a weak little girl but also such a fighter, so many times she got sick but time and again pulled thru, but finally her little body said enough and she fell asleep, she is sorely missed by us all, especially Claire who gave her so much love.

Also sadly this week the young pregnant female that was dropped off by her owners lost her puppies, but although it was quite distressing for us to have to deal with Cassie seemed not to be concerned which is good i think, she was at the vet today to check everything was ok and she was declared healthy

Last saturday's dog wash saw a huge crowd at the shelter and the dogs were in thier element ...so many people to fuss and play with them, although there were no adoptions a couple of people promised to come back to maybe take a dog home.
Here are some pics from the day

We should be getting a couple of litters of puppies arriving in the next few days , but with the arrival of my new microscope we should be able to cut down on the vet trips and of course the costs a little, we are also expecting another delivery of watches for anyone who is interested.
The two Akita,s at the Pererra are doing great, although still very thin they are begging to put on weight .

One of our helpers Courtney has found a company in the USA who are now selling a range of t-shirts, caps etc for the shelter, these can be found at http://www.cafepress.com/venusmedia.

Thank you all fopr your continuing help and support
Andy

Their website has a wish list of items you could bring. Andy, let us know if there are any specific items that you are particularly in need of right now.

Default Address to send donations??

Heard wonderful things on the Peanut Pet Shelter from the forums "Lovebuds" who we met on our last vacation. Heard great things on their volunteer/washing experience. We would love to help with a Saturday washing during our vacation! We are animal lovers ourselves with 4 "babies" at home: 1 beautiful white lab and 4 cats (one which is our special deaf baby who gets special attention).

In the meantime, please provide an address so I can help spread the word on sending some cash donations. Who are checks written to: Peanut Pet Shelter? Also, typically what time are washings? Are there still calanders left?

We agree - the calendars are GREAT!

You can purchase them at the front desk of the Luna Blue Hotel & Garden, or at the front desks of the La Tortuga or La Rana Cansada hotels.

Or, you can order directly by going to www.paypal.com, clicking the Send Money tab and typing in peanutpetshelter@gmail.com. The cost of shipping is included in the $20.00 price. Unfortunately they cannot mail from Mexico but will be relying on volunteers to carry calendars back to the US to mail.
I was thinking, duh..sending a check via mail is so old school, so I will just go thru paypal to the email above. As far as washings, I will send a message to Andy.

Enjoyed this thread and the photos! What a great cause!!!

You can also just go to their Donations page, and click on the Paypal button to donate. Unfortunately, the mail is not a good way to send money here.

Andy & Jen have wash days every Saturday, and you can visit other days by appointment. Either way, you'll need to contact them to get their address as it is not given out publicly.

Thanks for your support of the dog shelter!

Just back from the Pererra where we went to pick up the two Akitas , a good friend had offered to take them in on a temp basis where they would get love and care until they were back to full health and ready for (hopefully) adoption, sadly the male had deteriorated in the last few days , the malnutrition he had suffered finally took its toll, he was unable to walk as his back legs had gone so Sandra (the Pererra vet) did the kindest thing for him.
The female Kiki (it turns out she is younger than we thought, only about 4 years old) is in better (but not much) condition so we collected her this morning and took her to our friends at Dog Holiday (a boarding kennel for pets) where she had a bath which she enjoyed and we gave her a good meal and soon she will be off to her temp home.
We also brought with us a small terrier which Jen has named Shana, who was on her last day , we are full but she is just a small dog and wont take up much room
I will post some pics soon
