What a lucky dog Shana is to have been saved just in the nick of time!!

So sorry to hear about Hoshi! It's impossible to save them all. But you and Jen are doing an amazing job with so few resources!

Nice pic of Remy and Tasha, so glad they are getting on so well.
Sorry about the lack of recent pics (i will get some up soon i promise) but there has been some great news recently.
Apart from Jez becoming Kiki,s carer, we have adopted out three other dogs, first was the little scruffy black dog Shana that we rescued from the Pererra, and on saturday the lovely Claudia from Cruz Roja stopped by with her son and they took the beautiful Sky and little Mouse thanks guys.
We have had two new additions, i was driving in the Ejido last nifgt and saw two little pups running in the road, after stopping and asking a couple of guys hanging around if they had an owner (nope!!) i picked then up and took them back to the shelter, they will get the full check up and meds regime but they look healthy and quite happy

Tasha and I just got back from the vet. She is getting weighed weekly and is getting a B12 shot to replenish her system each week. She gained another TWO POUNDS!!!!!!! The little porker Mellow little laid back Tasha is pretty much a thing of the past. She bounces around like she is on springs, and is making Remy our lab quake in his boots somedays. She has learned like all smart girls, if the boys are bugging you, hit them where it hurts. Her variation on that theme is to bite him right on the Johnson. Makes me about pee myself laughing.

All of the employees at the vet's office just love her. Today walking down the hall to the exam room, I could hear the whispers "Look, isn't that the little dog from Mexico, she is sooo cute and sweet".

Jan that is just too funny, way to go little tasha, i am so happy she is improving so quickly, she will soon be a little porker at this rate

Just back from the vets with MJ, she developed a large squishy lump on her side but Diego assures me its just a bit of water thats accumulated there due to maybe scratching or bighting at herself and it will be absorbed in a week or two, while i was there i worked out a deal with Diego to buy at cost the vaccination shots (!st and 2nd) at just over half the price it costs to have them done (i will administer the shots myself) so this will be a great saving for the shelter.
Lots to do today as we are having a visit from JillyMN and Norml (Peeps) manana so got to get on with the poo picking (i have all the best jobs ).

Hi Jill. thank you again for trying to get those much needed meds to us and i am so sorry for the problems you had with customs.
I spoke to Diego yesterday about the possibility of draughting a letter that we can mail to people bringing in meds, this would make it more official and hopefully will prevent this happening again.

Ok as promised some recent dog wash pics

Cassie getting her bath
Sky and Mouse's new mom Claudia showed up to give us a hand, here is Spud not enjoying his bath
and here is Spud showing his disgust by getting dirty straight after
and then some of the others followed Spud's example, here is MJ after her roll in the dirt
and Bernie..
MJ enjoying her bath , she is always smiling
Cookie & Julietta drying off
Sky getting her final shelter bathing before going to live with Claudia
and my new microscope...thank you Julie

Sadly Pogo doesnt get out with the others very much now, he has kinda gone a bit crazy, he has been attacking the other dogs (especially Troy for some reason) so he spends most of his time round the back with THOR ¿who he adore.s). he does get his bath but not on wash day

Took Spud to the vet today, he has been having trouble with his back legs lately, they seen very stiff and he hunches his back, sometimes in the morning he cant stand and he ofterfalls down when he tries to stand on his back legs, we discovered from Diego that his patellas keep jumping out of thier "sockets" and he will now have to face an expensive surgery to correct it before the damage gets so bad it becomes in-operable and he loses the use of his back legs altogether, after going thru a similar thing with Little Peanut it has us very worried so as soon as we have saved up enough its off for surgery with Spud.

Some better news , we have managed to purchase at cost price some 1st and 2nd vaccinations from Diego, these will save us around 150 peso per shot and with the prospect of someone bringing round some Rabies vacs we should be able to save quite a bit of money.

Troy had his op on tuesday (sin huevos) and he doesnt seen to notice and was runninfg around with the others only a few hours after his op

And finally some very good news about the New Pet Shelter on the horizon, i will update onec everything is signed

Ok as promised the "Good News".... for some time now Jen and i have been trying (and failing dismally) to locate a property to move the shelter to, we have long outgrown our present location and as you can imagine having 30 plus dogs and puppies running around our small house and garden ( dogs in every room and both bathrooms) was beginning to get to us, we searched the whole of the huge Ejido area (the Ejido is pretty much the only place we can have a pet shelter as it is more of an industrial area so pretty much anything goes) to no avail and the promised move to the house some friends are currently renting (we have been waiting nearly 8 months for them to build thierv own house) is still in the distant future.
While talking to our landlords agent i discovered that the large piece of overgrown land to the side of us also belongs to our landlord so.... after a little negotiation we have arranged for ourselves to rent (at a very reasonable rent) the whole lot as long as we clear the place and build a wall, we are so very exited about this as now we do not have to move (we do live in a great location) but the downside is that its going to cost a bit to do the work and build the new improved shelter, the upside being we will be able to take in more dogs and even build a cattery at the same site.
We need your help, fund raising ideas, and some physical labour from our local friends to help clear the area (anything to save a peso .
We have estimated its going to cast around 5000 dollars to do everything (not too bad when you consider the lot is maybe 200 ft square and the wall will be around 10 foot high) which includes building enough pens to maybe double our capacity.
So basically i am asking for help, either financially or simply good ideas to help raise some money to help us build the brand new facility.
Thank you all
Andy

That is great news Andy. The Peanut Shelter is near and dear to my heart. I am sending a little something via Paypal to help.
