We definitely need to get Andy and Jen on here, but in the meantime, here's the web site for the Peanut Pet Shelter:
http://www.playadelcarmenpets.com/ The 2008 Peanut Pet Shelter calendars are on sale at various places throughout Playa, and of course, you can get them at the shelter too. We have one.....they're a hoot!

We agree - the calendars are GREAT!
You can purchase them at the front desk of the Luna Blue Hotel & Garden, or at the front desks of the La Tortuga or La Rana Cansada hotels. Or, you can order directly by going to www.paypal.com, clicking the Send Money tab and typing in peanutpetshelter@gmail.com. The cost of shipping is included in the $20.00 price. Unfortunately they cannot mail from Mexico but will be relying on volunteers to carry calendars back to the US to mail. Here's a shot from the calendar of a Playa local known only as "Mister February": ![]()

Welcome to the forum, Dogman! Creative cover.
![]() Yes, I've been meaning to create a thread to promote the Peanut Pet Shelter calendars. Thanks to all those who did it for me! I just want to add that if you are buying a calendar(s) online, you can make the payment process a little easier on yourself by simply clicking on the Donate button on the Donations page of the pet shelter website. No need to worry about typing or copying & pasting the email address correctly. Just enter the amount you are paying, and log into Paypal (or enter your address & credit card info). Use the "Add special instructions for the Merchant" section to indicate the number of calendars you are ordering. I have not yet had the privilege of seeing the calendars, even though I mailed a bunch of them out. (I was so disappointed when Andy delivered them all sealed up in their envelopes!) But I am very familiar with the cause and have visited the shelter, and I can tell you that the funds raised from calendar sales and all other donations are put to good work! Andy and Jen rescue "unwanted" puppies and adult dogs from the streets, get them spayed/neutered, vaccinated and healthy. Then they find loving homes for as many as possible, and provide a safe haven for the rest. I believe they currently have about 40 dogs and are bursting to the seams. It is no easy task to care for so many dogs. Honestly, I don't envy them, but I do admire them. I couldn't do it! As you can imagine, caring for so many dogs is not only exhausting but expensive as well. When I visited the shelter a couple of weeks ago, I brought along three 50 pound bags of dog food. Andy informed me that the food wouldn't even last them a week! Yikes! I know that it's not my calling to do what Andy & Jen do (although if my husband ever leaves me, I WILL be the crazy cat lady). So, I will continue to do whatever I can to support Andy & Jen so that they may continue to do their good work. I hope you will too. |

I have three more calendars available to be mailed to any request in the US, Canada or Europe. Some of my family members bought them & donated them back to be resold. Send me a private message & then pay via the Shelter website...... playadelcarmenpets.com.....These are limited editions & may be collectors items someday!!

And remember, if you're already here in Playa, you can buy them at the Luna Blue Hotel, the La Tortuga Hotel & the La Rana Hotel. All the money goes to the animals!

To those who dont know much about us, we are a couple of crazy brits who have turned our home into a refuge for the lost and sick animals of Playa, we have been doing this for around 7 months and have so far managed to re-home a large number of cats and dogs, here in Playa and in the USA.
We have wash day saturdays where local people and holiday makers come to see the pups and if they want to wash them too. ![]() ![]() ![]() We are now a registered charity and we survive totally on the generosity of others, without whom we couldnt do waht we love to do.100% of any donations we recieve goes directly to help the animals of Playa-del-Carmen Thank you Andy

I don't think Andy & Jen want the exact location known publically. I don't know the time either... I'm a lot of help, aren't I? - haha! I do know the shelter is moving to a new location soon, well, Mexican time soon...
most likely before March though. They have lost their internet at home, but should be checking in soon...

Here are some more recent pup pics for ya
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We are now up to 39 as this morning 6 little guys were brought to the shelter, four girls and two boys, they are about 5 weeks old and are off to Diego our vet first thing manana, yesterday we were also given a small female poodle that was found running in traffic and narrowly missing being hit, she was filthy and riddled with ticks, she will have to have a shave too as her fur is so matted its impossible to clean. We did have an adoption yesterday, one of our long-time guests, Pookie was at last taken to a new and loving home, she had been with us since she was a tiny pup ![]() There are still some calendars available and we now also have t-shirts (tho only small and med at the moment). Muchos Gracias A

Great Photos Dogman!!!!!
I am so thrilled to hear sweet little Pookie has a forever home!!! The new pups are gorgeous! And the other group of tiny pups are looking so healthy!! What a good news day! Here's a sweet story I'd like to share about a very young fundraiser for the Shelter.... My beautiful Guatemalan God daughter, Maribella is seven. She is the daughter of my best friend here in Chicago. Last week, without her parents permission she went door to door in her neighborhood soliciting donations for her "Aunt Mo's Animal Shelter in Mexico" (Mo is me). She collected $49.00. Her parents got a call from some elderly ladies in the neighborhood alerting my friend to Mariabella's mission. Maribella's Mom had no idea she was doing this. The elder ladies were just a bit worried about Maribella going door to door at such a young age. She decorated a can with her own artwork for her little fundraiser. Maribella will now use her fundraising money to help sponsor one of the Playa Pets at the Peanut Shelter. Maribella truly knows of the incredible gift of being adopted, whether human or animal. She was a very ill baby in an orphanage in Guatemala seven years ago. I am so gosh darned proud of her!! My next post will include a photo of Maribella, the little Animal Shelter Fundraiser! It was quite cold here in Chicago when she set out on her mission! |
