It's amazing we made it down to the beach at all this morning, given the late night breakup of the impromptu rendezroo at PGs (where some of us were seriously overserved), but we were about an hour later than usual. Turns out that by 8:30 in the morning, the ocean is beginning to turn that beautiful blue. Guess 7:30 is just a little too early. Who knew?
Heading down the road to Mamitas you couldn't help but notice the gigantic storm cloud sitting out over Cozumel. From here we could see what looked to be rain over there on the island. It is pretty windy today here in Playa, but this time the wind is coming from the land and not the ocean, so the waves were still very calm. At least that was our thought process. (We're not meteorologists, we just play them on this board. Haha ). It's only 77 degrees out, and pretty overcast, but the water was still refreshing and wonderful. We did a quick swim/bob in the beautiful blue water and watched some pelicans flying low looking for breakfast. Then we rushed home to shower & dress so that Tony & Genaro could go this morning and meet with the beerocrats over at Superior. Keep your fingers crossed!

We woke up chilly this morning...55 degrees in Playa! It's so unusual to have San Francisco weather that we decided to do a quick power walk around the municipal sports track (between Calles 30 and 34 and Avenidas 10 and 20) to warm up a bit before heading to the beach. Lots of regulars and tourists were on the track for their morning exercise.
After our walk, we headed down to Mamita's. The water level had obviously been rather high in the past several hours--up to about the 3rd row of palapas from the beach--as the sand was still wet. The wall of sand stretching halfway down the beach has been smoothed out now, making a nice slope. The water temperature was warmer than the air temperature (!) with gentle but giant waves. It was very refreshing. By the time we got home at 8:45, the temperature was a whopping 64 and the sun was shining brightly. It's supposed to hit a high of 80 today...another gorgeous day in paradise. ![]() On our way back from the beach we ran into a few of our guests as well as Mrs. Bumper. Some days Playa is a very small town. Hasta manana!

It was pretty chilly this morning, but we went to the beach anyway. The Mamita's staff was cleaning up from last night's big Reyli concert (which we could hear all the way at our house six blocks away). The water was again warmer than the air but pretty rough. There were a lot of knock you-on-your-butt, roll-you-on-the-sand, teach-you-that-Mother-Nature-is-still-the-boss type waves. By the time we got out of the water the sun was shining brightly and beginning to warm things up considerably. It might be a good day for sitting under the umbrella and practicing how to say "Una margarita mas, por favor."
Tomorrow's Sunday, so we'll be working instead of going to the beach. Hasta el Martes.

This morning appeared to be a perfect beach day, until we actually saw the water. Wow. Roughest water we've ever seen just about anywhere. The waves were high and very, very wild. The water line was so high that some of the chairs in the front row at Kool were being swept into the water. If the water was anything at all like this yesterday, we know why the Catamaya didn't go out.
We waded in a little, but the undertow was so strong and the waves so fierce that we didn't spend much time there. However, the windy weather was perfect for the kiteboarding tournament that has been going on at Mamita's for a couple of days. The kiteboarders were all over the water - we saw probably 10 of them doing various flips and acrobatics. Pretty neat to watch. Hasta manana!

Sorry J Man, we work the early shift at the hotel on Sundays...no beach for us today. Maybe somebody else can help out today. We'll be back tomorrow morning.

We finally got back to the beach this morning, and what a difference a day or two makes! When we were there last the water was so rough we were afraid to go in. This morning it couldn't have been calmer or more beautiful. According to Accuweather, the temperature this morning is 79 degrees with a "real feel" of 90 degrees. It is, simply put, a stunning beach day. The water is crystal clear with virtually no waves. It is shallow for a good 20 yards into the water at Mamita's. The wall of sand that had been created by the last few weeks' pounding has been smoothed out and is now a gentle slope into the water.
We didn't want to leave. We bobbed in the peaceful water and talked about how in the old days, at 8:30 in the morning, Cheri would already be at her desk in downtown San Francisco and Tony would already be arguing with a judge. Ah, how much better this life is. If all goes well, we're going to try to come back down to the beach later today. We can always hope!
