We’ve decided since we live in paradise that we should finally start each day—well almost each day—by walking down to the Caribbean Sea and jumping in the water. We know a lot of people want to know what the beach is like because they’re coming down soon. Others just want to travel to Playa in their head and heart. So to help those people out, we decided we’d do a morning beach report on the condition of the weather, the water and the sand.
This info will be accurate as of about 8:30 am. We give no guarantees for conditions the rest of the day, because we’ll be at work. ![]() Friday, February 22, 2008 It is sunny with high scattered clouds. There is a strong wind coming in off the ocean, but the air is warm, around 80 degrees F. The water was warm, the color was green and the sea was rough. How rough? One knock down. One bikini bottom partially removed. Sand in really bad places. The sand leading into the surf was soft and kept shifting beneath our feet like quicksand. Waves came in about chest high. This will be a great day for boogie boarding or laying on the beach with a piƱa colada in hand. Okay, that’s it for today. Hasta luego!

It is about 80 degrees this morning, same as yesterday, but there is more sun so it seems like it's going to be a hot one today.
The sea is much calmer this morning--not still, but the waves coming in are gentle, rolling ones as opposed to the crashers yesterday. Early morning the color was still green, but as the sun gets higher it'll turn that brilliant blue we all love. The wave action we had yesterday deposited a lot of sand in the sloping shelf from the beach into the water. We waded out about 30 yards before it got deeper than our knees. The same waves that brought the sand also brought a lot of toe-stubbing coral, so be careful! The sky above the beach is blue but there are puffy clouds in the distance over Cozumel. It is clear enough that we can see the buildings in Cozumel and a couple of cruise ships docked there. No cruise ships in Playa del Carmen this morning. It's looks like it's going to be another beautiful day in paradise. See you tomorrow.

Lots of wind and rain in the SF Bay Area tonight...tomorrow morning I'm not going anywhere near the beach...hell I may not even bother getting out of bed, mornings are overrated! Thanks for the report though...no, really!

Sorry there was no Beach report yesterday. We have the early morning shift at the hotel on Sunday. But we are back this morning!
What can we say? It's another beautiful day here in paradise. At 7:30 a.m. the sky is blue and cloudless. There isn't much wind. The giant Mexico Flag down the beach at the Porto Real barely moves in the breeze. The sea is blue green and very calm. Small, gentle waves roll over the new sandbar created in front of Mamita's by the last few days of wind and wave action. Both the air and the water temp are warm and comfortable. We started the day by sitting in the warm shallow water and people watching. This time of morning the beach and Playa start to wake up. There are a few joggers, some determined morning walkers and a few couples and people just strolling the shore. Early risers are already staking claims on the first couple of rows of beach chairs at Mamita's. If you are going to the beach today put on lots of sunscreen...its going to be bright and hot as the day goes on. Have fun today. See you tomorrow.
